Is this the best way to go?
I am going to be making Nu-Skool Breaks as well as Hardcore and am thinking maybe it needs different names... :-/ Guess it may cause confusion for people if they were trying to track down stuff you'd made and not getting the genre they were hoping for?
What's peoples thoughts on this?

Yeah, that's what I was thinking.
A shame though as I'd rather just have one name. I guess another problem is small minded people saying "he makes such and such as well, what a tosser" etc. I know that shit like that should be ignored but how would it effect your name among the genres close minded listeners.

One name IMO. If its compleatly diffrent and 100% commercial music, then diffrent names are understandable. Personally id like more if artists used other ways to distinquishe diffrent genres.

Two names imo. You would get people who are fans of your hardcore tunes searching for you and finding loads on nu-skool breaks and if they dont like that they may think' Oh that hardcore track may have been a one off' and not bother searching for you again.
I dunno, maybe 1 name is a good idea.

While people typing an unfinished title then finishing it it in the first post annoys the hell out of me, i already started replying so i'm going to finish.
It depends what you want really, if you want to gain recognition as an artist to try and create some sort of profile then obviously it would make sense to use the same name. Other than that it dosn't make alot of difference really. People will usually only know you for creating either genre, so if someone who listens to Breaks probably won't be aware of the fact you make hardcore (if they don't listen to Hardcore) and the other way around etc so it wouldn't make much difference anyway if you have the same name.
Having a different name though does have advantages, firslty, people won't associate you with your other artist name, so won't have any expectations relating to it, and secondly you can create stuff completely different than you otherwise might do and again people won't associate it with the other artist name. It's good to have a bit of mystery i think.

The reason i'd do it this way is because i dont want any "other" music to be held under a stereotype of my previous productions.
Nobody would be expecting anything, therefore they could just take it as face value.
The music would speak for itself. So to speak.

I think the problem is in the recognition, I mean if you have struggled to make your self a name in one genre, you might want to take some of that "fame" to impulse the other music , where you are just begining and nobody knows you.
but on the other hand if nobody knows your in the new genre, it doesn't seems relevant to have a different names
but the argument of the confusion in listeners is very good. if you use the same name people looking for you will get confused. plus, if they are really into your stuff, they will eventually realize that you produce other stuff.
something like this happened to me with tommy knocker, I knew him as gabber producer, and later looking for more tracks, i found some DNB tracks, and although I like both genres, I got mad because it wasn't gabber
also, you should consider if you want to produce just 1 or 2 tracks in the new genre, in that case i think you should use the same name, so the tracks will be like a "curiosity", an expression of your skills, but if your are going fully into the new genre, different name all the way

vinylgroover managed to stick for the most part under one name for doing all kinds of styles..
that said, Brisk and Ham go under a few different names for other styles too
like "Stimulant DJ's" :)

Benifits and downsides as i see em....
Youre not associated with any one style or way of doing things - cant think of a negative
Youre name is recognised on a larger scale - however idiots will may criticise you for this.
People who dont often listen to a certain style of music may just do because it's "X's" work (think how many people in the commercial scene listen to hardcore now as a result of Breeze and Styles) - People may not like youre other styles, but if youre others are good enough i cant see them dismissing the style they do like.
More releases under youre belt that people know about rather than have to trawl through Discogs to know youve this whole other world of production to you that they havent heard before - though i do enjoy finding out about all that stuff, makes me feel more discoraphy savvy than the mortals  ..... who have better things to do 
That's about all i can think of right now and can be bothered writing (long day) so yeah. IF i ever get into production properly i know im gonna be sticking to one name no matter what i make (unless i eventually get sick of it).

Some good points from both sides.
I will definitely be doing breaks permanantly, it wont be just the odd track. It's one of the main genres I mix (after Hardcore) so I really want to start making it.
It's a really tricky one, just can't make my mind up.

For all the Hip hop, Grime, garage and "battle" tracks iv been on iv always used the same name, but it really is a different ball game for a producer.
I mean dedicated fans will always know that your the same person so is it worth the hassle?
But working under the same name can cause alot of grief for yourself especially with all the haters in the scene at the moment....
Really is a tricky one mate havent got a clue what i would do...Good luck working it out though haha ;)

It probably depends on why you're making music in the first place, so
ask yourself....
Most of the previous replies imply some sort of desire for a career, recognition, fame, acclaim and possibly fortune.
If that's the case, which therefore involves worrying about what others think, maybe different names is the answer.
If, on the other hand, you simply want to make what you love then surely one name will do and
B*llocks to what anyone else thinks....
if they're that small and narrow inside to bitch about the different styles you produce then *uck 'em.
