Agreed that the hh awards are a bit of a joke in terms of quality. I do belive that they reprosent the hardcore community at the moment. If darren styles wasn't that popular he wouldn't be round the top of every big hardcore event in the uk.

It is never going to represent the type of hardcore people think is at the pinicle of the scene on this site.

Look on the bright side, at least Gammer won best dj last year and not styles (again). Anyone who was there in 2006 will remember that was a real joke...

The biggest joke is the breakthrough, tune and producer catagories!

I wont quote my last post, but think thats how the votin system should be

To be honest that would be much better.

But darren styles would still win from all the little 13 year old girls voteing who have never been to a rave but think clubland extreme really is 'extreme'.

In which case Hardcore Underground, HU3, Al Storm, Fracus and Darwin will lose.

I'd like to dedicate this fictional award to the end of realistic hope, and the commencement of unchallenged generic exploitation of a once vital genre until it lies twitching and the paramedics have been chased away by hooligans.

I don't really think the votes count anyway. I'm sure it's pre-determined who is going to win, it's just another way for the old boys club to boost their own inflated ego's.

Hardcore Underground, HU3, Al Storm, Fracus and Darwin don't need awards if you ask me, anyone who has knowledge about the music knows who and what they and how good they are at what they do.

I was going to vote but I don't want to have to vote in a cat I don't care about or know nothing about like the MC's. Plus, each time it sends you back for not voting in something it wipes all of your previous nominations so you have to start again, piss take the whole thing.

Its not fair that HU3, Darwin, Fracus etc. but on the other hand is it fair for someone else to lose out say in the Best Hard Dance DJ because people dont know enough about said category and vote randomly, whether the person they voted for deserves it, or the person voting has even heard of them, therefore taking away votes and potentially an award that rightfully belong to someone else? I dont really feel comfortable voting for someone ive never heard of, or a category i know nothing about so i wont be voting.

That said are people even bothered about these awards? I mean other than the posers and teen hearthrobs from the RBC and the likes are the people involved in making music because they want to really bothered about awards and trophies? Will an awards ceremony really make that great a difference to how things in hardcore work? Other than transforming the whole scene into even more of a pop music affair? Why do we even have these awards? Thats always puzzled me.

EDIT

Reading this back im not sure if, through my rambling, i managed to get my point accross....

Its just a gimmick really the awards I think. Its just an event created by a promoter to sell tickets for once a year and drum up an interest. Every genre has them, the brits, NME awards, MOBO’s, bounce heaven awards, MTV awards, they are in every single genre. It’s a chance to hold a big event with the big names and sell tickets for big money.

Having said that….if NSR was ever nominated or even won best label, Id be pretty damn touched to think people took time and voted for us and appreciated us.

I dont think they do westfest just for the awards.

Saying that though it would be so much better without storm walking out in the middle of every set to hand another award to someone from rbc.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't all the awards handed out here miraculously go to people people who coincidentally are part of the lineup? that's what it seemed like in the past few that i even bothered to look at who won. nevertheless, i have voted

best hardcore dj: Brisk
best MC: Sharkey
best hard dance dj: cally & juice
best hard techno dj: Andy Vortex (i don't even know who this is lol)
best record label: next generation
best producer: brisk & ham
track of the year: Everywhere I turn
best store: IMO
best website/mag: happyhardcore.com of course
best breaktrhough dj: fracus & darwin (why are these two together?)
best MC: Keyes
event of the year: HTID in the sun
best compilation: HU3 of course
Outstanding contribution: Darwin

I just hope Building Shaker wins.

Come on, Guitar Hero? It hasn't been out nearly long enough to even justify itself yet. Give it time, but not yet... Building Shaker on the other hand, has swept ravers away across the world.
