i sent about 60 emails or so to someone selling something, thought i could trust them (will not dirty the person's name yet) but very quickly it's appearing to be a big scam.

i have dealt with this before, so i did file a dispute with paypal. they decided in my favour but there were no funds to recover, and said they would once funds became available in this person's account (which in all likelihood, could never happen).

it was for a large amount of money, also from someone from another country.

i've been waiting for a while, supposedly what i bought had been sent a long time ago. i am finding out today that there was either a mistake or i'm getting frauding.

what i can i do from here? has anyone had problems or solutions? i feel exploited and i know some people on this site have been through something similar.

are you getting replys to the emails you are sending? can you be a bit more specific about what it was you bought and the emails and problems you've been having with it

might help people advise...

well for wot i know paypal lets u take the money back to ur account. either contact them or look for that option.. as far as i remember when it happened to me over paypal i just pressed something that said, reclaim ur money.. or something along that line.. anyway.. if paypal wont deal wif it u can always put a charge against that person at ur local police.. ull get a paper of ur report.. go to paypal wif a copy of it and just tell em ere u go.. ave got a paper with an official charge about fraud. gimme back my <curse goes ere> cash. :)

might help.. might not.. worth the try :)

see the thing is, i already made a dispute and paypal settled in my favour, but in the meantime the person i bought these records off of withdrew all the money so paypal just can't pull money from an account with $0 in it.

i want to talk to my local police dept, but since i made the purchase from a country other than my own, i'm sure i'm just going to get laughed at.

what can the police do from canada about something that stems from another country?

basically, i bought a record collection, was told it was sent, got in touch with the company that supposedly sent it over two months ago and was told that they never sent anything.

i'm choked, i'm screwed out of a large sum of cash, and i really don't know what to do.

that sucks mate and it does happen. mate of mine got srewed over a $300 exhaust for his bike. paid for it and the guy never replied, he contacted paypal but by that time (next day) the money was gone. wasnt really anything he could do about it.

You could contact the police, but i doubt they will take much interest in you, they see it as to much work for not enough reason.

well, i don't even think it's that. i spent a large sum of money on it, much more than what you've all been speaking about.

i just don't think that they can't do anything considering the culprit here isn't even a canadian citizen.

all i can say is watch your back with paypal. you think it's safe and that you can get your money back, but it's actually quite the opposite. they **** you over big time and then don't even help you out once it's all happened.

Do they not just go into minus on the paypal account? So they can't just paypal without paying the money back.
I settled a dispute before and it worked in my favour and i got all the money back but i didn't know could actually just take money out someones account.

this is what i got in the email from paypal:

quote:
After careful review, we have concluded our investigation of the Buyer
Complaint described below.

We have decided in your favor, however, we were unable to recover any funds
from the seller's account. As stated in the PayPal User Agreement, recovery
of funds associated with a Buyer Complaint cannot be guaranteed.

Please know that we will make our best effort to recover the funds in
question if they become available in the seller's account in the future and
will take appropriate action against the seller. Such action may include
issuing a warning, a temporary restriction, or terminating the account.
Keep in mind that PayPal uses a number of factors to determine when to take
action, including member complaints. Due to privacy laws, we cannot discuss
the details of any action taken. We hope you understand our policy and that
it assures you that you are safe using PayPal
.

it really ****ing sucks. this again, just adds to the me wanting to just kill myself as previously stated in my thread about work. i work hard, and then get all my money (seemingly) stolen from me. what the shit?

how the fu. ck am i safe using paypal if i don't get my money back? that makes no sense to me.

seriously what can i do here?

i have a few questions who was it? was it a big company? what did the seller say when you conforted them about the company saying it wasnt shipped?

where in the world are they? in the UK? cause where in the UK?
if its a problem about shipping it over seas, perhaps i could have a chat with them and get them to send the bundle to me, (provided they are in the UK) then I can forward it to you.
(no im, not joking, if thats the only way they will do it, i'll be happy to help out)

Why aren't you revealing who it is that's ripped you off? If the seller hasn't responded and the courier has told you they never got anything to send to you it's pretty obvious where the blame lies.

Name and shame! Plenty here to help you out.
