I've noticed lately a lot of freeform has been blending alot of drum and bass elements.. I would list a few examples but just listen to Hardcore Underground 3; it's all over it.
From what I understand it's Breakbeat Hardcore.
One example:

I personally like this change.. my favorite Freeform/DNB fusion so far is Entity - Stargazer (Reese Remix)

Two major artists that do this often are Darwin and Cube::Hard.. in fact I think this trend started with Cube::Hard's Micro N2 ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f-ZpppJFQD4 ). I know there are more breaks/freeform songs that are alot older but I think Cube Hard really set it off.. what do you think about this? And yes I registered on here just to ask this lol. I love where freeform is going because I've been producing a sort of melodic DNB fusion since 2004 ( http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/257166 )

I don't really understand what you mean, the first one is Drum & Bass, the second one is Breakbeat Hardcore.
Synths and stuff like that are normal in Breakbeat Hardcore, there's no "Fusion" with Freeform, or anything that is related to it.
Altough there are Freeform artists like Ephexis who sometimes do Breakbeat versions of their Freeform tracks, but I'd just call that Electro Breaks or something like that.

What I mean is Drum and Bass is being integrated into freeform albums more and more. Yes I know the 2 are different. The Condition is on Hardcore Underground 3.

I actually really like this track and I'm not much of a fan of jump-up. Like you say though... May have been another story if it was alongside 75 minutes of similar tunes. :P

It seems to me like more & more people are using term "Freeform" for just everything that is UK/Upfront/Happy Hardcore, but.. UK Hardcore ≠ Freeform, just 4 ur info!
And the second track has nothing to do with DnB, it's Breakbeat Hardcore, another form of Hardcore music, and has always been mixed with/played before UK Hardcore ;)

The first track is DnB yes, but not horrible meaty! Although the track could be a little more exciting and all the sounds are cliche to jump-up =P
I've always loved jungle / DnB so hearing breakbeat in hardcore after 4/4 hardcore took over was amazing. I used to always start my sets off with breakbeat before going into 4/4 hardcore.
Search the forums for posts from DNA, I think I remember him posting some of his breakbeat. Darwin was another who pushed the sound to more listeners, he's got full sets of just breakbeat from his radio broadcasts.

Tbh i didn't mind it either. I actually thought it was very refreshing to hear on a predominantly Hardcore comp. Like an over the top Jump Up breakdown in a Hardcore track, in moderation it's fun but i couldn't take a full mix of that stuff.

I hate Jump Up is all. All that warpy nonesense , no ta. Like i say in moderation it's ok but too much

I understand, jump-up has been the predominant type of DnB played at shows here for a while since about a year ago and it got tired. Now DnB heads have mostly started throwing Dub-Step and Elektro nights.

I love liquid, I have a few very nice liquid/jump-up tracks. Check out Ben Sage, Danny Byrd (liquid-funk), Livid Vibes (liquid jump-up)...
Im going off topic... Awake: search for Darwin mixes on the forums. Also search for Ponder's studio mix, Virus - Another Day Another Dream, DNA, and I think COH: 2 had alot of breakbeat?

Yeah I also start my sets with breaks sometimes, I love the transition from a Breakbeat track to a 4-beat Track!

There's a whole topic I made a while ago about those transitions, it's called "UKH & Breakbeat" and should be someone in "Hardcore Discussion", somewhere in the first 10 pages.

"freeform" tunes have had breakbeat/drum & bass elements in them since the word freeform came about.
the whole idea of freeform was to have a genre with no limits to it as hardcore in the late 90s was becoming stale and predictable
