I'm working on a desk (that I do plan on building eventually) and I was wondering what you thought? Any suggestions?

It's supposed to be a hybrid between a production desk and an office desk, while being compact. It's also intended to be adaptable to change i.e. there's space for another display.

Ignore the extra props in that last pic, I was using them as a reference to try and get a general idea on how it would look in the end.

Edit: I should note that it's obviously not complete.

That does look pretty sweet though.

I kind of agree on the color, just because I think it's too bright.

But you might not have any control on the color in the program you used (Don't know).

Ignore the colors for now. The grey color will probably some sort of plastic or metal with black gloss paint on it. The crappy wood texture will be a dark cherry wood. In the end it will be a rather... dark desk.

My grandpa could compete with the amish. He said he'd be willing to help me too, so this probably end up being a DIY project. It will still cost money obviously, but a lot less than hiring someone for the job.

Yea looks good but I also don't like that color.

What did you do it with btw ? Looks like it was made with Microspot Interiors.
Also it wasn't rendered very well.

I love doing that kind of stuff btw, I used to make whole 3D Buildings with offices and stuff some years ago :)

Sketchup. It was never rendered either, I just turned off lines and enabled shadows. I regularly use sketchup for, well, sketch-ups.

Though probably cheaper than buying an identical one from a store or having one made.

Looks good mate. Colour at the mo is awful but i guess you're not keeping it that way.

yea, to the left of your main display what is that tiny space between the table and the shelf for? Looks like you got about 1½ - 2 inches of space for cramming your hand to reach a pencil that rolled too deep =P

Google Sketchup.

Also, in the time I spent blowing off replying to this thread forgetting to reply to this thread having been busy with other things, it's gone through several revisions...

Thoughts?

The wood will likely be plywood with a faux cherry finish. The black will likely be glossy black plastic, or if the budget won't allot/I'm feeling lazy, just glossy black paint. A different option would be a faux-chrome to replace the black.

Looks pretty good.

What exactly are you going to use it for though?

What do you plan to fully put on it, and where?

A variety of things. For the most part, audio production, graphic design, and paperwork.

Let's see... on the surface:
1x large modem (I no longer have the tiny thing seen in previous images)
1x Apple Cinema Display
1x Portrait-oriented LCD monitor (in the future).
2x Roland monitors (I forgot it's specific name)
1x External hard drive
1x Floppy drive
1x Printer/Scanner
1x Keyboard
1x Mouse
1x M-Audio MIDI keyboard
1x Presonus Firebox
1x Holder for pencils, rulers, etc.
1x Alarm clock
1x Small photo frame
1x Phone
1x CD holder
1x Floppy holder

It will be in the corner of my bedroom.

Edit: Oh yes, a Wacom tablet as well! Can't forget that.
