Maybe just "triplet core" since the only reason it sounds like hardstyle is that many of the new tunes are written in triplets.

Triplets in Hardcore is the biggest joke ever, it sounds so out of place it's not even funny.

Triplets is fine imo, I think you're just hating on the 'big-saw-tons-of-reverb-cheering-stadium-crowd Clubland sound' - are you saying if Darwin wrote a track with triplets you'd hate it because they don't belong in hardcore?
Plus a lot of the old piano stuff is written in triplets. Don't hate, appreciate.

Yeah it would sound equally awful. Hardcore is just too fast for it. To answer your question Wilky it's a musical term to describe a certain kind of timing. Just like 4/4. It's the time signature.

I would disagree at 170 bpm. Tap your foot at 170 and sing triplets. It's almost casual.
However when you pitch up in a mix to like 180 it can sound chaotic.

It's still 4/4, it's just that each beat is split into 3 instead of 4, so the percussion is slightly offset.
It gives that chuggy/steppy sound, like gabber has (for the same reason):

Yeah tunes like....Discolights, Sorry, pretty much all basshunter tunes, pretty much all scooter tunes (slight exaggertation), and theres a few on the new CXH on breezes cd if am correct....which spoils his otherwise impressive mix. The only good 'triplet' hardcore tune i've heard is dj kurts remix of rock ya hardcore, when it kicks in its class! Other than that i'm not a big fan....meh
