So,

I saw this movie the day it came out...at midnight....on IMAX 3D. Im a big fan of this film, for many reasons.
The visual effects were stunning and the story was captivating IMHO.

What did you guys thinks of it?

Only worth watching for the effects. A six year old could have come up with a better storyline. Still, it was worth watching.

I saw it in Real-D 3D
how good was the IMAX 3D quality?
The Real-D was ok but it seemed kinda blurry and made me really tired for some reason

but the movie it'self was all eye candy, but really really beautiful eye candy
worth it

Simply amazing. I liked the story and the visual effects were stunning. Is it weird that i fancied the blue woman?

It's a completely unique film so it's unlikely that you can judge it based on what genre it's meant to fit into or whatever. If i read bout it in advance i'd probably say the same thing.

In what way does that negate what I said? Someone can still love a piss weak cheesy plot, doesnt mean the plot isnt piss weak or cheesy. If you were looking for an intricate storyline that made you think the whole way through, this isn't that movie. Honestly, if you couldnt predict the rest of the movie after a solid 15 minutes I feel sorry for you. It's probably one of the oldest storylines in the history of storylines.

Oh, and welcome to the wonderful world of your own opinion.

That last line wasent for u? and why do u think similar plots have been used alot? couse it makes a good movie and it has a good message

last line was for me as well, but i was pointing out that '********, i liked it' is not a conclusive argument against my point. But i'm not going to challenge the fact that you liked it, because you liking something is your own opinion. As for the cliche story, that is much more objectively 'fact' than the subjectiveness of opinion. As for why he used it, I'm going to go with this: its much easier to plagiarise then to be creative. And given that he worked so hard to be creative on the visuals, I can excuse that to the point where it doesnt bother me all that much.

just saw yesterday. regular 3d version

I thought it was fantastic! obviously the visuals were stunning. but they were stunning in a way that is un-comparable to other movies. absolutly fantastic. i know that they needed to create new technologies for the CG. and it was worth it.
the story i'll agree is not entirely original, and yes i could tell how things would turn out for the most part before i even saw the movie tbh. but its a great story, told in an original way, AND it speaks to our time, as well as being a timeless story. also, part of the thrill of a story like that is, your SUPPOSED to be able to predict it, but you NEVER know what will happen, so you find yourself rooting for the heros to do what you think they will, while hating the bad guys and wanting them to fail the way you think they will/should.
really good actors (not GREAT but really good), great musical score, ground breaking CG, great, all be it old plot line, and hot blue jungle goddess native women who can talk to her planet, and old relatives, and animals, lives in a giant tree and flys dragons who id like to meet are only some reasons why this film is fantastic. creativity GALORE except with the original plot line.

on the whole there is something intangible about this film that makes it a heavyweight, something that made me walk out of an almost 3 hour movie, energized and litterally buzzing, something i havnt felt comming out of a theatre in a few years.

id give 4 and a half stars outta 5 because ya gotta leave some room for improvement

... anyone feel that there is the POSSIBILITY of a sequel and therefore a trilogy?? cuz i most certainly do.
