I know there are a few bright minds here, and I was wondering if any would be willing to help me with my maths on a regular basis but on their own schedule of course? Currently I'm doing algebra. I imagine it would be done over MSN.
My mom and dad have pretty much ruled out every other option e.g. they say that online tutoring is either unsafe or shoddy and that real-life ones are too expensive, etc. Not to mention the school system here refuses to offer us help of any kind (probably because we're possible lawsuit instigators).
(please no piss-takes about how I'm an idiot)

D-tor never fails. Thanks.
I'm going to be very busy the rest of the night because we're starting on some serious housework (repainting the den and some of the siding). So it will either be later tonight or tomorrow.
Cheers!

from some interesting information on it:
----------------------------------
To start with, it appears that the abbreviated forms "math" and "maths" were derived, INDEPENDENTLY, from "mathematics". The American form ("math") was NOT adapted from British "maths". (In fact, the American form is attested EARLIER than its British counterpart.)
**see the second link from the end below
I imagine the American choice of the singular, and British of the plural is of-a-piece with a broader tendency of these two branches of English in thier use of collective forms. American much more often treats them as one unified whole, hence favors the SINGULAR verb, whereas British often considers the constituent parts and prefers to treat them as plural.
In this casel, we start with the word "mathematics" -- which can be handled as an ordinary plural, referring to the various branches of mathematics as a collection (British) OR as "one field" and so singular.
Not that this sort of thing is done with MANY words ending in "-ics" that refer to a "field of study", activities or the like:
Compare:
ethics, physics, economics, linguitics, hermeneutics, statistics
gymnastics
(Find more in this list - http://www.morewords.com/ends-with/ics Some of these (e.g., "statistics") may be treated as EITHER singular or plural (depending on the context and emphasis) even in American English. Others are typically not. So, when it comes to "mathematics" -- American English, which treats this as a SINGULAR (one field of study) created an abbreviation that refelcts that -- "math". British English, on the other hand, treats "mathematics" as plural, so naturally chose the plural abbreviation "maths". For more on the history of the word and these abbreviated forms, see: http://www.etymonline.com/index.php?term=mathematic See also the dictionary entries at the following link -- one of which notes both singular an plural uses of "mathematics" while the other (the AMERICAN Heritage) notes only the singular, that is American, treatment. http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/mathematics ------ :)

Math(s) = plural.
So, there is more than one math?
Math is a general term to describe all things mathematical; meaning Algebra, Geometry, Calculus, etc. So unless there's more then one Math, as Math is a defining umbrella term, then I do not know of it.
