Was watching footage of Trance Energy on youtube. And could'nt believe how many people large scale Uplifting Trance events pull!! (60,000 people indoors and sold out in Holland) Do you think UK Hardcore events could ever get this many people one day?
I've been to a lot of awesome Hardcore raves. But never seen anything in Hardcore at this scale. Prodution was nuts too. There must be no cent spared when organising a Trance Energy event. To me though it really surprises me that Hardcore is'nt as poplular as Trance when you look at the uplifting similarities of the two genres. To me in would be great if Hardcore events got this size.

Not sure if hardcore on its own would get this many people, but i think if there was a mixed genre event, and someone was willing to invest alot of money, more than enough people would be turn up! :-)

I said this many years ago over on ush and im goin to say it again... Hardcore needs rebranding... Needs a name change..
We all no it isnt as what it once was... We all know (apartfrom smoogie) that everything on life evolves... Never stays the same... Hardcore has done that to a certain extent... But it still has the stigma attched name...
What we need is to breakaway from the hardcore name completely... As what we know of now isnt hardcore... Or is it?

Yeah but what would you call it as a name change? You have a point though. A lot of people get Hardcore confused with Punk Hardcore. To me it should be just called RAVE. Because Hardcore is the true rave sound. Is almost never played in clubs, mostly large rooms.
I've seen the sensation footage and while impressive, is still only about haf the size of Trance Energy. Defqon is closer in size but don't forget it has a few genres to get the crowd. Trance Energy is pure Trance all night and gets packed out.

Yeah I agree with the name change, but not because people confuse it with Punk Hardcore, but because most people are superficial, and when they hear "Hardcore" they think "ugh what's that shit.." (even if they haven't heard it) they think of chavs and stuff like that. Because "Hardcore" isn't "normal" or "cool".
It should be called "Rave" imo, that's the best! Nothing with "Hard" in it. But it would be impossible to change the name of a whole genre..
I think many people would like a track if they hear it just like that, but when they know it's called "Hardcore", they probably wouldn't like it.

Just my opinion of course!
i agree, everything has to move on at some point
and as i have said before i have no problem with change
but i didn`t/don`t like the direction that hardcore took
and the thousands that left the scene around the same time i did (97/98)
obviously didn`t like the direction it was going either
its ok to change things...but your not supposed to wreck what you already have
and imo as well as others that left...they made the wrong changes and F~cked it up

For me the change was for the better tho... It was the best way to change... What hardcore needed was popularity and it got it.. Slowly but got it.. If it went in any other direction like.. Breakbeat for instance then it would of stayed in its rut... Thanks god it went down the trance rooute...

Yes a million people and still a Trance dj. Would be great if a hardcore dj could play to that many people.
Don't think Club Hard is a good name. Hardcore is a rave genre not a club genre.
I still think RAVE is the best name for it. Don't hear many clubbers saying they like Hardcore. Is nearly always ravers. Also hardcore MCs always refer to the crowd as ravers.
As for Hardbase, there are dance genres which have a harder beats than hardcore. Like Hardstyle and Gabber etc.
