Currently, I think it's better than ever production wise. Maybe not so much the Clubland stuff (but Darren Styles even seems to know how to make good hardcore again now [can't wait for his new album. I've heard some of the tracks on it and it's very good]).
This of course is just my opinion and one I doubt will go down to well with the majority of the people here living in the 90's.

So what do you guys think?

Production wise maybe, but that doesn't mean it's better. Sure, producers learned new tricks to make things faster, easier and maybe sound different, but imo new hardcore is shit.

The only reason I actually mix it is because it's funny to mix, you have many possibilities and you can be creative and let everything out of you! I guess it's even more the case with oldskool but I've never really tried mixing it, so yeah.

I don't follow modern Hardcore but if there is a compilation I might like I might buy it. But that Clubland stuff has to go.

Not April fools, I just personally think that hardcore is better now than it has ever been. I never listened to the 90's stuff in the 90's (I was just 9 years old in 1999) so maybe I don't appreciate it as much as I should do. I do enjoy listening to older stuff but much rather prefer the newer sound we have now.

To hear about the best era of Hardcore music, refer to the Early 2000's thread! :P

Things are going smoothly right now in Hardcore music, and many compilations and artists are keeping my interest alive, but I don't feel like we are at a peak at all... then again can you ever tell you are at a peak before it's over?

Oh don't be fooled... I think the problem is Smoogie's spam of his pro-early 90's obsessive agenda, but not many users on here seem to share is point of view. The guy posts way too much in proportion of the interest he brings up, resulting in more annoyance than anything.

I agree hardcore is doing well at the moment some class tunes about resently but I think hardcore was at it's best in 2004-2005 but that's when I first got in to it but yeah I think 2010 gonna be a good year :)

Technically, the music has got a lot more interesting, aside from some of the pointless labels being formed. But the way releases are, the scene is pretty awful right now--although recently there have been a batch of good releases.

Damn right hardcore sounds better these day.. But when iuts compared to the 90s its no contest..

Dont get me wrong.. I loved happy hardcore at the time... I fell in love with it.. But after all these years.. And with what we have today its kind embarrassing listenong back to most of it... So yea hardcore ia a lot better now than its ever been..

It all depends on which way u look at it...

i got into hardcore in 1995 and i always thought 1996 was the best year until 2006 came around.
When it comes to my ipod playlists the 2006 one really blows all the others away and i don't think we have the level of old and new talent we had then with the albums to back it up.

Perhaps it wasn't that good a year but the sheer volume of albums that came out by so many Djs meant that alot more incredible tracks were availiable to folk who just bought the compilations.
For me the highlights were hardcore euphoria, bonkers 16 and Masif Hardcore which i went to australia and bought.

and u can actually make your own unique sounds and not go for the same sort of styles being produced today by the same old dj's.
Good on ya Revs.

Yeah, I think it's the best it's ever been right now, but a problem seems to be that really good tracks are getting produced at a much faster rate than they are getting released.

People think hardcore isn't that great right now due to a bunch of the tracks on the recent CXH CDs and the like being rather mediocre and generic, but in reality, although that stuff is the most popular, those HTID artists really make up a pretty small percentage of all the hardcore being made right now. There's more people making it than maybe ever before, just browse through soundcloud, plenty of amazing new tracks on there by so many different producers than the ones getting the most recognition.
