When/How/When/What was the biggest influence/best artist/biggest turning point/biggest development in music?
Just state some points in history that contributed heavily toward music :)
For me it was the first DJ broadcast in 1906, and the reformation of Radio 1 in 1993-4.
What do you all think?

as long as it's fapable, I'd hit it......... :P
I'd say the grammophone disc. All artist went nuts and wanted to sue the makers of the discs, in the end they even earned more money by it than live perfomance :)
Thanks to the piracy, I'd say that live performance is in real demand again.
local performance -> grammophone disc -> radio -> tape -> cd -> mp3 -> global/large performance. Can you all spot the red line? (aka lawsuits)

The development of electronic aid (instruments etc), the CD (like the grammophone), the creation of the electric guitar (and even earlier, the creation of string instruments), radio... Lots of very important points for how music is today, and these are just a few :p

Yeah that's what Luna C was saying. It's not a bad thing. It's just a change.

Id say the biggest thing is computer technology and the internet are the 2 biggest things for music really.
Without the 2 there would be no music downloads (legal or otherwise)
there wouldnt of been much of a progression with most EDM scenes without computer technology...
The internet allows producers to work together without actually being sat besides eachother... Allows us to stream, download, upload.. etc..
So yea those to alone deserve the award ;)

same for me. specifically 2 unlimited got me motivated to go out there and find more of electronic music
and as far as computers, they provided an easier outlet to find a whole wide variety of music and artist info/discography that you wouldn't be able to access through most music shops unless they were specifically tailored to carry that genre.

Life & the birth of man kind. The Egyptions had music and so do birds through song
In a modern sense I would say the creation of the gramophone & being able to play recored sound. The Victorians where behind such inventions. It is said that the first recording of a voice goes back to 1860.

Progressive rock artists like Genesis and such majorly brought the use of synthesizers into mainstream music. They were pioneers in that sense; yes the Beatles used them but vary sparingly by comparison and it didn't really kick anything off.
As for electronic music the TB 303 is pretty much responsible for electronic music as we know it today.
