just be happy you don't live in British Columbia, there hasn't been a rave here with proper hardcore since the 90's.......
we get one rave a year and it's very "dubstepish" nowadays
but it is 5 days long and in the woods....

lol only joking, I doibt your the only American on here as the forums seems full of people from the states.
The "midwest" is the specific area in the general center of the country. States like Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, all the farmers, and Chicago got stuck in there somehow. There's plenty of people from the states that listen to hardcore but mostly on the west coast, mainly California and its even condensed mostly around the San Fransisco/Oakland area, "the bay area." The bay area is a little slice of UK nightlife in America, other than that raves in other parts of the country are pretty special events and people come from all around to attend them, like acen in Chicago, which happens annually.

looks like a 5 day long acid trip.
As far as I'm concerned, if you're listening to dubstep you must be on acid. But I don't want meathead to find this and start raging on me for not believing that sober people like dubstep again...

...If I cant find a rave to play at, then I will make my own rave to play at!
(which as actually been on my list of things to do)
So that leads me to this question. How they hell does someone throw there own rave?

You need a venue, speakers, lights, DJs, and security. Then you just hand out flyers and hope people come, if not, you've lost a lot of money. Or, if you're a college student like me, you convince the school to let you throw a rave in the campus bar, where they have lights and speakers, and the whole campus has security, and its all free.

I have a small venue and speakers(mom owns a dance studio).Dont have any lights really but hey you can still dance in pitch black. I'll be the DJ and I have some big buddys who will play as security.
So really I have most of the requirements, But how do I know if people will come? I mean it is by a collage and a decent sized town but still.

You can never really know if people will come. The party I'm doing on my campus is really just to test the area, since it's a free show I figure people will come and see if they like what the hear, I'll ask around if people show up and see if they'd be willing to come, then hopefully tweak and I can try and do some warehouse shit in Chicago. It's really just a gamble, even if you're in an area with an established hardcore scene, getting started out when nobody knows you or what kind of party you throw can be tough.

well, once I get enough records to start playing I will definitely find out. I hate having to import all my records >:l
