I guarantee that anyone could go back in time and "erase" certain key tracks from rave history, then join a current discussion where people blather on about "it being much better" before.... before finally proceeding to paste a youtube link of that *exact* now unheard ex-rave-anthem and witness it being vicously slated by the very people who before would have stripped naked and danced around it simply through era and association.

That sums up a huge proportion of the people on here.
I have to admit though, I enjoy songs much more when I find out they were part of 'a more interesting period in time' or had 'political significance' some time ago. I think that's all part of enjoying music though, just getting sucked into the general mood of the song and imagining you're at that 1991 808state gig at the g-mex or you're at castle donnington. Enjoying music because of the historical significance shouldn't be frowned upon so much I think. After all, It's still enjoying music isn't it.
Amen, brother, but that wasn't what I meant.
I was merely noting the inherent irony of people repeatedly criticising other people for doing the exact same thing just further down the line without in any way acknowledging why they feel the way they do or of replicating that feeling now.
