I LOVE how you've completely disregarded Kathryn as a woman.

I could not approve more of this post :D

i think they are both great in their own way - there is never a time when I dont have a book on the go.

i just find it funny how wrapped up people get in books, especially when it comes to Books that have been made into movies its always the "cool" thing to do to say "the book was so much better" when sometimes it just isnt the case. usually the whole "book was better than the movie" is usually the first thing people blurt out when a movie/book combo they enjoyed is slated by someone else, so as to save their precious books street cred (ie: twilight)

case stands, some movies are better than the books..some books are better than the movies, but i still think its quite daft to compare the two directly against each other as they are different mediums in their own right

the 2nd harry potter book is not as good as the movie, the movie chopped out loads of bits the book didnt need and added bits that made the entire story flow better.

same was true with another of the movies, just cant remember which one..what are there like 7 movies now? lol

I just finished reading Pinion

, the sequel to Mainspring/Escapement , and it kicks the arse off Harry potter, but thats because it wasnt written for 11 year olds ;)

its a steampunk novel, in which the earth and planets roll around sun (which is a massive "oil" lamp) on brass rails, the innards of the earth are clockwork and gears, airships still rule the sky, british empire, steam powered submarines...awesome oh, and the equator is a massive 20 mile high brass wall (the earth is quite littrally a globe!) separating north and south earth.

They are very different so perhaps it is unfair to compare the two but at least with the books you don't have to wait months after reading the first half of the last in the series to read the second half!

I would say books are better just because you can get lost in them so much easier. It takes very little concentration to watch a movie, and everything is right there in front of you so it requires none of your own imagination whatsoever. Whereas a book you have to concentrate and think about what is going on, use your imagination. Books win evertime.
