When did i use this comparison?
Oh stop deflecting like a pompous ass, you said you prefer when a DJ just plays music and I guess dances like a retard or twiddles his dick for the next 3 minutes while the song plays out. ALL forms of music when played live are slightly different, this is due to the fact that people get bored with music, and if it's not kept fresh it will fade out. Since raves are the EDM world's take on concerts the same truth holds. It's up to a DJ to change the music and keep it interesting, otherwise he might as well not be there.
So, if you prefer to be a useless human disc changer and masturbate during your set keep it up. Also, get bent. I'm not following your instigation anymore.

yeah you're right. You have to use excessive cutting and scratching and sampling and effects until you clear the floor because what you're playing turns out to just be excess noise and it's just made the crowd **** off.

I actually couldn't care less what the DJ does inbetween mixes. He can pop out for a cup of tea, only returning when necessary for the next transition, for all i care. I don't go to a rave/event/festival etc to see a DJ, i go to hear the tunes they have to play. Like i said, in most situations, DJs need to recognise they are just there to play tracks. Noone gives a hoot about beat-juggling other than fellow DJs. You seem like the kind of person who when at a rave as appose to dancing and enjoying the music would comment to the person next to you on how you'd have brought that track in 8 bars later and mess around with the flanger a bit while the person ignores you and enjoys the music.
Oh and by the way, i'm not a useless disc changer, i use Vinyl ;), and why would i masturbate during a set? If i were playing a club i would surely be thrown out.

I was refferring to people that just simply use the designed mix ins and mixouts of tracks and dont progress any further than that. Ive also seen a lot of dj's that dont even go to that length, they use the ridigng kick section on their blends and you get this boring as 16 bar kick kick kick kick kick that makes you wait for something more to come out.

music choice is a variable dependent on the listener/s.
This.
The main aim of a DJ is to successfully blend tracks from one to another without the listener realising it. When you're out in a good club environment you'll notice a good DJ because they can make an hour set seem like 5 minutes and the crowd will be going mental the whole time. A bad DJ will make basic mistakes during transitions and that will create a general slow down in the set. Everyone is guilty of this from time to time but a bad DJ does it regularly; Ref Hixxy Bonkers 4.
As Brian says music choice is a variable and is subjective, of course you need to be able to play to the crowd but generally the crowd will expect a certain style from the DJ they've paid to see.

While I've never had any interest in being a club DJ, I've always wondered what it would be like to be DJing in a store. I don't know if they have these in the UK, but over here when you walk around malls sometimes you can find some stores that have turntables inside, and on rare occasions there'd actually be a DJ there as well. I've noticed, however, that there is a difference between the way DJ's play in clubs and at stores. I don't know but it just seems more freeform and relaxed, something I'd like to experience someday. These guys aren't required to keep a crowd on the dancefloor but they're basically used to draw in customers because of the sometimes out of place music that they play. Wonder if anyone else has seen or felt this way.

Here in Houston they have them in a store called MetroPark. It's a clothing place selling metrosexual, or borderline gay-looking clothes. you mostly will here house and minimal.

No we absolutely do not get that here, that's just commercialism to the extreme lol.
not stictly true.. DJ Sarge used to play in his shop, spinin in manchester... The memories....
Plus anyone could wal into a record shop and bang a vinyl on a deck...
That's completely different. I went there once lol. Also a record shop is completely different too. In shops here yeah the standard is electronic music but you don't get DJ's playing it! That's just insane lol.
