Why do I use Vinyl?
Because Analog sound has a deeper and warmer sound and for the idiots who think "digital is much better" well sorry it isn't unless your listening to WAV files.
WAV digital files are great but still there is something missing - That special warm sound :P
Also Digital has a clean and harsh sound to it as well.
The Harsh sound is not good when you turn up those speakers! Ive found that your ears are more sensitive to digital than analog sound :P
But Today it's getting to the point where you can use Digital MP3's or WAV file and play CD's instead of the good old Vinyl. With Trance I know I can get away with playing WAV files but with UK Hardcore I do prefer playing the vinyl.
At the end of the day, Analog Sound will always be a deeper and warmer sound and digital will have a clean but harsh sound and NOTHING will change that fact.

I'd be more inclined to believe that you feel nostalgia, and the endorphine soup that your brain swims in makes the music sound better to you. Dopamine, serotonin, and norepinephrine are the same chemicals I suspect are responsible in many types religious phenomenon, such as the "burning in the bosom", "the holy ghost", or whatever it is that they're calling it these days.

I like Vinyl because,
1. The mastering on vinyl sounds smooth. A lot of times MP3s will be encoded differently so when I try to mix them the sound "sounds fake", well that's the best way I can put it. When I record on Vinyl and export to MP3 it sounds more natural even if it's just the way the needle colors the sound. Sorry I'm not to keen on sound engineering lingo so if anyone knows what the hell I'm talking about and can elaborate better then by all means go ahead.
2. I can see what I'm playing. Over the years I've learned to read grooves on the vinyl, I just look at the record and I know where each part of the song is. Even if I've never heard the song if you know how the structure of the song works then you'll know just by looking at the grooves you can tell where the beat is, the chorus, breakdown, whatever, they all leave a unique signature on the surface of the record and I use that to my advantage. Although Scott Brown's stuff can get pretty hard to read sometimes.
I've never had this much control with any other medium before or since. I'll always use and buy vinyl when I can. I'm actually pretty happy that the demand is rising in the States although the inverse is happening with hardcore music so now I have to pay massive import prices to the point where sometimes I pay double what the price of the record costs.

Stupid question, you could say the same about CDs.. why do people use CDs? There's virtual programs and timecode system which help you to avoid burning CDs each time! CDs are so 1990s..
Personally I like both, turntables and CDJs. I use the CDJs most of the time because I'm too lazy to take off the dust cover off the turntables, take off the hub from the needle, and then all the things like taking out the vinyl, placing the needle blabla just takes too much time. And when I mix, most of the time I just mix for like 10 minutes and then I get bored so I don't want to spend more time unpacking my turntables than actually playing! The only moments when I use the turntables are when I mix for an hour and just play for the fun (for example on my show), I play the tunes in full lenght, I take my time, I enjoy the tracks.. I chill :P
I like doing special stuff with the CDJs, like quickmixing etc which is more difficult with Turntables because taking off the needle, finding other vinyl etc etc takes too much time whereas on the CDJs I just press on "next" and the next track is already loaded and ready to be played :)

Hmm I didn't say that, but actually yes it does. And also, it requires more patience imo. When I want to make a quick mix I get nervous and impatient when playing on turntables.. and then I end up destroying my needle!

doesn't take a genius to figure out that Vinyl in fact does take more skill, and no i don't include timecode vinyl in this statement.
