those are during times of aristocracy, monarchy and all that crap where they were the ones who ruled. and that was something that happened in a lot of countries way back when, provided they had surnames. but i'm sure that some of the underdeveloped countries still follow a somewhat similar rule, but none of the 1st world or power countries.

good point! lol
..erm...has! ;)
and also - what a load of rubbish - your socioeconomic culture would be the same
having lived both sides of the ocean I can tell you the only real difference is that you dont get laughed at for listening to music that isnt Rap/Rock.
other than that the people over here arent as friendly - and its more expensive. UK like to take all your cash, even if its visiting something public...like a freakin waterfall...or a fort on hadrians wall...

Dude, 'history' teacher. Any chance your teacher was talking about Medieval times or something? lol
Come to England. You can get away with shit loads of stuff. Have you heard of a magical place called Essex? It's where I am from. The girls speak in a mystifying dialect, and have orange skin. It's quite something to behold when you see them hunting in packs. That most happens on Saturday's around 9pm after a few bottles of high quality drink: Chardonay, Rose - anything that ends in an elongated aaayyyyyy sound.

Yes, he was a history teacher, but it was a world geography class. The teacher USUALLY taught History though. He read the paper to us everyday and he just threw in one day that we allow people to change social classes here in the USA where as in Europe, it's based on your father's name.
