even though i don't necessarily "believe" in reincarnation in its most widely accepted sense.

Very good view to have.

There's more to the world than science, you know, and science has its shortcomings. That's coming from an engineer.

Yeah so many people seem to forget that science only accounts for that which science has discovered and is able to explain in some way. Not the other way around. It's not like science has the answer to all things apart from some small details that continue to confuse scientists. They understand a small amount of how the universe works, and even most of that is theory. The rest is a mystery.

to be fair, people misunderstand the scientific word for theory. Theory just means it can't be conclusively, objectively proven. If you substituted the word "theory" for "fact" you would be more or less on the mark. Having said that, there are many theories still in development stage that are also called theories. So it can be a bit confusing.

Well that's what i meant. Well, having one small detail that is a fact, and then filling in all the rest based on what they think is what i meant by theory.

Just to clarify, the theory of natural selection is only called a theory because it can't be proven empirically. In reality the idea of natural selection is pretty much a scientific fact. That one, in particular, has pretty much been nailed.

My point in my rebut to acid was that there are more ways of collecting information than hypothesis method and observations. Historical data, for example, is to be considered fact just as much as scientists consider gravity a fact. Scientists would rather do away with other methods of data collection in place of their own, when that is empirically wrong and short sighted.

Death is not the end IMO but I think it varies from person to person. If you aren't expecting the afterlife/don't believe it it won't happen, but if you do then it will. I know it isn't very scientific but lets face it as the others have said, science doesn't account for all that much. Maybe my body will be rotting in this world, but my spirit will be free in another one. I think science is just a small part of the puzzle.
