....like... Gnomefunk.

There's a few Pixies that make Hardcore. I'm sure they would take offence to that.

I reckon a name like Bouncecore will do for all happyhardcore because the music is exactly that, makes you bounce, bounce bounce...

Not to be xD.

Many ppl hate that name. And if we keep calling it different names, it will keep a confusion =).

I agree with Hard2Get, i mean, if we decide 2 call it Upfront Hardcore, then how would we call it after 20 years? Oldskool Upfront? x)

I have an idea. Since it was first invented in 1992, I thought we could call it '92 Hardcore' ('92-Cor'e) or 'Hardcore 92' ('Core-92').

What do u think?

I personally think of sticking to "Happy Hardcore". It's how I started. It's what I still aim for in terms of vibe. Sure, the more serious sound has had an influence too but to me they're blood brothers so the latter I just call "Hardcore". Another thing is that genre naming usually is done by people who don't make music. All of the suggestions in my opinion are valid but as for me I will always strive to make Happy or Serious sounding "Hardcore".

That's the problem. Person can think ure talkin about Gabber or something like Metal.

I mean, when I said I listen 2 Hardcore once to a girl, I got: "Eww, that's just BAW-AW-AW..." And I was talking about UK/Happy Hardcore and felt embarrassed.

But that's not the point, it's ur personal choice how u call it.

My goal is to develop a new official name because many people hate the current name and others think I'm from the UK.

Here's how I think styles should be interpreted. To be honest though, I feel that styles merge and overlap too much to class any two or more styles. Here's a few. Feel free to point out your opinions or add your own styles...

PartyCore = a term Orbit1 used. I guess this refers to tracks that mix it up with the idea to sound happy, but maintain the elements of newer hardcore. They tend to have abstract sounds and a slightly more minal feel to them. They tend not have actual melodies or chorus's. Eg: Joey Riot- Party Alarm, Stormtrooper - Phunk'd.

Freeform = The darker stuff. Much more trancier feel. Lacks some of the happy vibes, and has the melody. Long breakdowns and builds up are mandatory ;) Eg: Lost Soul - Love Can Destroy, Transcend - Angel of Darkness

Finergy/FINRG = Renouned free label, but has also define the finnish style of freeform. Less dependand on the happy styles, and more focused on a purposeful dark and mysterious feel. Eg: Carbon Based - Hurricane

Uplifting Hardcore = This for me is the party style, melody based freeform tune. Lacking the seriousness of freeform tunes, it can have a happier melody, more bouncy beat, and euphoric breakdown. Eg: Kevin Energy & AB - Check This Shit Out, S3RL & Kevin Energy - My Transition, Dj Stormtrooper ft MC Knight - Hardcore Raver

Vocal Hardcore = The hardcore tune that is based on male or female vocals. This can vary from Darren Styles style tracks to Dougal and Gammer's vocal stuff with Gemma or w/e. Eg: Darren Styles - Sorry, Gammer & Francis Hill - It Will Be Alright, Technikore - Runaway

Minimal Hardcore = Like it says, minimal. Based on a single note bassline. I dont know much about it, but examples could be... Eg: Dougal & Gammer - Boing, Gammer - Bang Your Head Off
