If this is amazing and tight mixing then I must be using my decks wrong. Seriously, how did this guy become so popular? He's a terrible DJ.

If I remember rightly he was using tracks on the h2b hardcore albums without permission and also taking credit for other peoples productions when he had done nothing on the track. He also mixed the h2b hardcore albums using a sequencer rather than decks.

^ I think he mixed the first CD on decks if nothing else because I distinctly remember him bringing Kick Your Legs by DNA in a bit too early, leaving it to cool and then bringing it in a bit later. So, maybe that one is legit
I LOVE the H2BH series, I probably reference it every 3 posts I make, as for anabolic frolic I've got a load of live sets from him at various hullabaloos and one from some other event. I have to say his mixing technique was a bit poor but his selection is spot on for me. I would travel from anywhere to hear him DJ again just because I know that out of the tunes he will play at least 5 of them will be favorites of mine.
Shit, I don't care if he didn't even mix them! I'd go just to hear them played one after the other.

That's a valid point to raise because selection is 50% of a successful set imo. His selection is right up my street but personally I can't listen to him play because he's so bad at what he does. I have tons of the tracks he plays and I know I can mix better than him so what's the use in listening to his CD's or live sets? I wouldn't even waste my time illegally downloading them.

lol listened to that set & gotta say wtf really bad mixing, how he got bookings mixing like that i'l never know. reminds me of DJ Vibes in that way crap at mixing but he knows how to read the crowd & plays what they wanna hear, both are pure crowd pleasers nothing more. that being said that Vibes' mixing while not always great is alot better then Frolic's.

Vibes was/is no where near as bad as Frolic. At least Vibes can beatmatch, it's just his timing that's often out. Vibes has gotten a lot better over the years it has to be said. I've seen him play live twice and the energy that he brings to a set is almost unmatched. Although I don't care for his mixing style I do tend to like his CD's for the track selection alone.

its funny because Vibes is better at mixing breakbeats then 4x4 & always has been. dont get me wrong i like Vibes' sets but theres no point in kidding ourself he cant always beatmatch & yes his timing is poor fading out or cutting out tunes suddenly that are in perfectly. mad lol Tom Wilson was rubbish at mixing too & Daz Willott is laughable at how bad at mixing he really is

Vibes' mixing is far more than good enough. Who gives a shit about really technical mixing? That's not why i listen to mixes. I listen for the music.
As for the Happy 2B Hardcore series; average at best, music wise.

Only 50? Your telling me that you enjoy listening to the mixing as much as the music? I find that odd lol.

Yeah I do. Before I started mixing myself I never really cared about how good the mixing was. Now I can't help it. If I hear bad mixing I will tend to switch off rather than enjoy it for the tunes. It's an illness.
