any shaving foam, doesnt matter. also, we dont have dollar general in the UK.
incidently, previously I used regular gillette shaving foam. i've tried others - most shaving foams are the same, they just smell different. i think in the states i used to use some crazy gillette stuff that came out as gel, and turned into foam when lathered..
anyway - I can't use wilkinsons sword razors because they cut my face up, thats the only time ive ever cut myself shaving.
long as you have a sharp razor, and keep yourself watered, no need for it.
theres also the option of oil as well, if you really do have woman's lady skin (most of them wont bother with shaving cream for their legs and just use one of those fancy dancy gillette venus thingers)

I get that with the single blade Bic razors. Cut me up good & proper.
I think most people use shaving foam cause if you've got well sensitive skin like me there's no way you can use just a blade & water. Honestly i'd be in agony after that.

i thought the same!
i heard it on QI as they touched on it very very briefly and thought "**** that shit, i'd mess my face up" then that evening i was googling stuff and decided to see if anybody else had tried it, came across one thread where someone had ran out of it, and had to use soap - then wondered if they even needed soap - tired it without soap and found it wasnt needed at all (hardly surprising, foam hasnt exactly been round since the dawn of time). so the next day i clicked on a new razor to my mach 5, filled a bowl with warm water, slapped some on my face, wet the blade (as you normally would when washing off the foam each time) and just had a shave...no rashes, irritation, cuts or anything - which are down to dull blades anyway.
i doubted myself for the first time in a year a few days ago, as ive been growing a beard for fun over the past two weeks...it had gotten pretty long, and we had a wedding - i thought it best to go back to my usual goatee - but i thought "i must need foam for this..surely" but i decided to "risk" it anyway no foam (changed the blade as a precautionary measure even though it probably wasnt needed and bam. no problems.
seriously, long as you non dull razor, keep your face and blade wet - no problems :)
this has to be the wierdest thread ever.

weird but educational.
you know what, you've twisted my arm Mr Triquatra! To hell with it, i'm gonna throw caution to the wind & shave foamless : )
I will report back with my findings but you'll have to wait patiently as I only shave once every 4 days. I'm not the hariest gentleman in the land.

Statement 1 and Statement 2 are two very different statements. Yes, there is no need for creme or gel, they managed without for long enough over the centuries. But to say there is no difference is bold. and wrong. The skin provides a lot more resistance to the razor if there is nothing to lubricate it. Yes it will still work and no you don't have to cut yourself unless you are quite incompentent, but there is a difference. I wouldnt be surprised if the blades went blunt a fair bit faster as well.

yes, i missed out the cleaning your razor after every few strokes (as you normally would) water serves as a fine lube (why i said keep yourself watered - for heavens sake dont take a razor to a dry face)
would it make you feel any better if i said there is no noticable difference? ;)
the biggest difference ive noticed is that bit of spare change that lets me buy an extra piece of vinyl!
Specimen doesnt want people venturing off the planet - and doesnt want people to stop buying shaving foam.. theres a mystery right there!

Now you tell me : (

Oh yeh, I done a bit of detective work last night, spied in Triquatra's bathroom window & this was my finding's. Don't let him tell you otherwise, this man would be lost without his foam!

Yes. that is subjective. I would just reply your facial nerves must be shot because I notice a very noticeable difference when shaving with just water.
Just to be clear, my face is already wet when I put the foam on because I shave in the shower. so I you have your face dry and just add shaving cream that may explain where the difference that I feel but you don't feel is.

While clearly taking the piss, I've found his responses lacking in necessary detail, and doesn't seem to have an understanding of various principles. Why he thinks launching from the far side of the moon is inefficient is beyond me, and after a bit of searching I can't find anything to suggest that the moon holds the earth's tilt, as I doubted I would.
I'm willing to be shown I'm wrong, but bloody hell, you have to actually show it not just state it as a fact and then fail to back it up when challenged.

There was a link at the top of my post, then beneath that a quote from the website... and how much searching did you do? Because if you go to google and type in "does the moon keep the earth on tilt?" scroll down past all the clueless fools on wiki, yahoo, google, and whatever other kinds of answers websites, and you'll find a reliable source:
http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m1200/is_n9_v143/ai_13533907/ Which you could have also found at the top of my post in the other topic >.> Before I quoted it <.< Also, it's inefficient to land on the moon then launch off again towards mars for very obvious reasons: even under the decreased gravitational effects, you still have to achieve liftoff rather than shoot straight there, but I also said that if it's not possible to make it straight shot (like all the mars rovers already have) then the less efficient way is the way to go. And I could swear this topic was about shaving foams, god damn it!
