As discussed in the other thread, here are the samples and rules for the remix competition:
SAMPLE PACK
www.kniteforcerevolution.com/kfa15comp
or
www.kniteforcerevolution.com/kfa15comp.zip
RULES AND STUFF!
The samples here are from the track "Take You Away" by Jimmy J & Cru-l-t and contain live vocals. As such, the copyright to these vocals are owned by Kniteforce / KFA recordings. I mention this because while I am happy to provide them for this competition, I will be a bit annoyed if I hear the vocals showing up in lots of other tunes! So, to be clear, this sample pack is provided for the sole purposes of remixing this track for this particular competition, and that is all!
RULES:
1. Please only enter one remix. If you do two mixes, and you are certain I need to hear both, then thats fine, but I want to discourage you from sending me multiple versions etc etc
2. You can make your remix in any style.
3. The closing date for this competition is December the 1st. Please send all entries to [email protected] using a file delivery service such as www.yousendit.com
4. Please send 192 mp3's or higher. I will ask for a .wav or .aif if you win or if I need it.
5. The winning remix will be released in some form or other on KFA. If I get two excellent remixes in different styles, from two different people, I may release them both.
6. If you put up a full version of your remix online anywhere, or give it away in any form, then you will be automatically disqualified from the competition. You are welcome to post clips of your mix, or the whole remix in poor quality (below 128) of course, but once it becomes downloadable, its no good to me!
After the winner is announced, you are free to send the remix to anyone you like and post it anywhere you wish. But obviously, you cant sell it lol!
STUFF:
A few other notes about this sample pack. Before I make a track, I have always collected way more samples than I need. I am a firm believer in:-
"Its better to have and not need, than need and not have"
Which is why this pack contains some samples that were not used in the track. Its just my way of working. So if you are thinking "I don't remember that being in the original" then that is probably because it wasn't :o)
Also, I have kept all the vocals, even the ones which went wrong. Its probably better you dont use those ones, but hey, knock yourself out.
Most importantly, you will be pleased to find the really crappy drum kit I used back in the day. You can use this if you like, but you are likely to lose points if you do.
Just kidding.
Kinda.
Okay, thats it. Have fun!

You have to cut it up yourself. The reason the file is like this is because this track is very old, and it was either give you the samples like this, or everyone go out and by an Akai sampler so I could send you the floppy disks with the samples on it lol. Seriously tho, cutting up samples is really not that tough a job, is it?

It's not hard to slicean audio file... How lazy are you?
I'm looking forward to starting on this. Hopefully I can make the vocals fit my kind of chord progression :)

Errr...you dont need to create an .aif, and .aif is the mac version of a .wav and they are pretty much interchangeable. I have never had any issues using either.

I am incredibly lazy, but in this instance it's definitely worth it.

Nice thank you! Already chopped up the vocals, got them in place and got my rough ideas down this evening. :) Should be an interesting comp.

Jimmy J & Cru-L-T were THE kings of the Happyhardcore-breakbeat sound
By the way is this Competition Open to People in Australia?
