Dude you used so many weird measurements for the differences. Volume/length/weight
I thought I used the same?
mile/metre = longer length
inch/decimetre = shorter length
pound/litre = weight/mass
It was correct, yes?

Its basically a millimeter, well I thought... Shows how good your school system is ;)
I thought it would have made more sense to use length/volume/weight Instead of length length weight, and just leaving out volume altogether. silly me :s
Also, a centimetre has 10 millimetres in it. A decimetre is 10 CM. So no, it's nowhere near BASICALLY being a millimetre.
Definitely not my school system that's failing.
Also, i was just illustrating how in a country that ONLY uses metric, how irrelevant a decimetre is. But typical of an american to think their school system is right, and our whole COUNTRY is wrong. LOL.

inches (or a few centimetres if your metric).
You're in the UK.... You're metric haha
Agreed with audio warfare, I don't think I measure anything in metric. Stones, lbs, Feet and Inches all the way!
Metric is rubbish! If you go up to alot of people in the street and tell them you have a mate who is 1 metre 65cm tall, a fair few would have no idea if thats tall or short. Say you have a friend who is 6ft 4in for example, everyone in the country would know that thats tall.
Same for weight, everyone understands stones and lbs, not many people will know their own weight in kilos
Everyone understands it because that's what they're used to. You have to admit though that the metric system makes more sense if you had to choose one system from the get-go would you rather a system made up of powers of 10s or a whole bunch of different numbers?
Yeah I use imperial because I was brought up that way. I do understand most metric but I would rather use imperial 6' 4" is easier to remember than... 190cm or however much it is.
The smaller units you measure in, the more accurate it's going to be. But then again three figure numbers simply bake my noodle and my poor brain can't cope with all the digits :(
I'm glad society allows my lesser intellect to run rampant :D

Litre is used for volume (just like cubic metre), Kilograms for weight/mass .
And tmo centimetres are's more compareable to inches and like Andy_Influx already said: decimetres is in use rarely.

metric system is better, but for some reason, the international companies have been pushin imperial system forth for so long, that for some measurements, you have to use it. E.g. my computer display is 24" and my bicycle tires are 28". But those i only use because theres no alternative. 40" TV doesnt tell you jack shit, but most people just remember approximately how big it is. 1016mm would be better, but not as media sexy. My home theater screen size i count in millimeters, cause it makes more sense to me (i'm a draftsman and here if a drawing has no units specified, its in millimeters.)

TBH I give two shits what others think about me *cough*cough * as I do fine with my girl so yeah I dont care :D
And I never understood the lying about it being bigger than it is. Say it is really 8inches/20cent, say it is smaller by an inch or two, when someone sees it they will be surprised. As if you say it is 2 inches bigger, then you are basically laughed at.
Anyway 6 inches is the average around the world, so if you are any where near that you are golden.
Yep.
@latininxtc Shittt... I would be sooo pissed, I'm guessing something bad happened between them two?

LOL. That is fantastic. It's not even one of those "Oh shit - I don't quite realise what I just said" moments, then everyone bursts out laughing. It was cold, calculating and premeditated and executed gloriously. Wish the camera hadn't changed to just her though. Would like to have seen his reaction.
I think this is my all time favourite news fcuk-up clip. Quality isn't great, but it really doesn't matter. It's the audio that's important:
