10 years of online purchases, and now some douchbag tried to use my cardnumber to make a purchase.
So what are you fella's take on card usage online?
Do you buy much online?
Do you use your card directly or do you use the likes of Paypal to hide the number from the seller?

I tend to just use it directly, but I dont use sites that are doggy, tend to stick with amazon, ebay, ect.
But I dont use my own, I either pay someone to let me use theirs and buy it like that.
I wont use paypal, for two reason.
One: Wikileaks
Two: Larger amounts of money they take like 2%-5%.
So yeah..
I only get about $20-100 a month, so its nothing huge.

I used to have a Visa, but now i use a Visa Electron. I'm more careful where i use my card now, as Electron isnt insured as Visa is.
Visa should be more reliable then PayPal when it comes to security.

prepaid credit cards do exist, and personally distance you from any questionable purchases...

Anyways. I dont think I tried my card on sites I dont already know. the last 'insecure' site I made a purchase on, I made throu PayPal (and wikileaks are pussies). The possability is high that my cardnumber was stolen throu a keylogger, but I didnt have any such things on my computer.
could also been that I used my card on a hacked ATM machine

Ive used the electron in like 5 countries and well over a dozen of stores, never had a problem :/
Your number could have been taken by anyone. Once when i had to reset my card, it was stolen from the verification company that the store i used used. Just make a reclamation to your CC company, get a new card and continue as usual.

i remember for awhile many places in the US couldn't take Electrons for some reason, and now it's no problem they're accepted as a bankcard
@ atomsk why is paypal taking $$$ out of ur transactions? if it's a product purchase, then they shouldn't do that, as that charge for the seller not the buyer. the only time that they charge you is when you're accepting money, such as through a money transfer or payment for an ebay transaction

Here few banks in someway insure the transactions made with their electrons, because of it it can be used in every place where regular visa is accepted (internet stores, not real ones mind you) :P I dont even check if a store accepts it TBH. If they take visa, my electron has worked too.

Only use your card on ebay or amazon. I buy most of my things of paypal, it's alot safer, you do have to pay fees if your sending money or receiving it but it's completely safe..

yea, sites like TrackItDown and Junodownload for example add a little fee to your purchases if you use paypal. But as a payer, you dont pay any fee's at all

I used to use debit card up until about 5 years ago. Now i just use Paypal when ordering online.
