It could be worse, it could be like The Slow-Operative.

Aldi has notoriously slow queues, tesco is fine round here.
But it's all about costco...

During my visit in Brighton 2002, I was totaly confused, when my guest family's mum was talking about buying food at "Liddle". Didn't recognised she was meaning Lidl (a German discounter).

i always thought Costco was just an american chain. never been to costco, but i hear it's WAY better than Sam's Club. Not everyone can get into costco here you need to be a current carrier of an Amex card in order to have a membership to Costco
but really it's all about location. all the Walmarts in large US cities are real shitty, but if you happen to go to one in a small town, they're actually pretty clean and the staff is nicer.

Yeah you need a membership card here as well, they have 'introduction' days at some companies though so basically anyone can go if they're arsed enough..
Your supermarkets are way superior to ours anyway, when I went to Canada the stuff they sold was ridiculously cheap compared to here..
I can't actually remember the last time I walked through a shop and thought "I need to get everything, It's so ****ing cheap!".
Come to think of it, every country I've been to in europe has better supermarkets than here, even Belgium! and that's a shit hole!

I was tempted to write this! (and what wong said)
we don't have a tesco near us, so its Morrisons or Asda (walmart)

Every Aldis I've been to in the US has had 5-10 checkout aisles, with usually only one or two with a person at them. Cue long lines.
That's only been on trips and vacations though... Aldis seem to be few and far between in SoCal. The linear layouts of the stores bug me anyway (I do like their cart and bagging systems though. More grocery stores should do that).

Aldi seem to only be in certain areas.
Also, as another poster said, they originate from Germany. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aldi

The area I'm in, all the bigger markets are always a huge cluster****.
Aldi's: 10 check out's, 2 lines open, many old people.
Kroger: 15 lines, 3 open, they even have senior days, if you have a life... Don't even go on that day...
Walmart: 25+ check out lanes, 4 open, cue's are ****ing horrid... Everyone uses coupons also, that takes 5 minutes for each one... There arent many old people who go to walmart in drones... Just really over weight people who cant walk.. Almost as bad as old people to me..
Save-A-Lot(cheap food store): 4 check out, all ****ing open... Weird eh?
The smaller "health" stores, are always packed, but their lines move really fast...

try our co op over here its the worst supermarket ever.
it costs like 60p for a packet of walkers crisps, everything is stupidley priced because theres another co op leterally 20 metres away so theres no competition.
The staff are all rarebreeds. no one ever seems to be in charge or know what the hell is going on, the cueing system is shit and its always big, and gets proper in the way of half the stuff for sale. its the most useless shop in the world.
god i hate it in this town lol
