If you where to use a new hardcore site what kind of features would you like to see on it? What would make you use it over other sites such as this one, USH & Facebook?

more moderator participation, maybe even a specific section where label owners can directly put up all news & info on new & upcoming releases, and other side projects that they're working on (something a little more exclusive than a generic tracks mixes thread section). and probably would be good to keep it as information only rather than topic discussion. also fb linking would be great

How do you mean information only? Such as just a news site without a forum etc?

lol no i don't think i was clear in my 1st post i typed it too fast to give it a 2nd glance
of course it'll have a regular forum. what i mean is have a separate section for updates on the latest from a lot of the big labels or upcoming and/or lesser known labels that have a lot of material coming out. if someone wants to discuss about a particular track or album that label is releasing, then a person can start that topic in the regular forums section.

Ha ha, love it Jenks.
Moderator participation is a biggy.
On Steven's keep forum and release information separate idea: I agree.
I think something like this would be good for news that concerned track releases from labels: A default 'News Form' could be created for label owners to fill in every time they have releases forthcoming. This is a very rough idea, but, it would go something like this.
Label: WesealFace Music Recordings
Title: The WesealFace Debut EP
Release Date: 19th April, 2011.
Link for JPEG,TIF,etc: www.photobucket.com/album/WeaselFaceArtWork.png
A short summary: "The WeaselFace Debut EP is brought to you by blah blah blah" (Say something like - no more than 200 words?
Buy Links 1: www.imodwonload.com
Buy Links 2: www.trackitdown.net
Artist links 1: www.soundcloud.com/WeaselFace
Artist links 2: www.soundcloud.com/WeaselFace-Music-Recordings
Obviously that is a total rough idea, and you won't be restricted to 2 or 4 links of whatever, but you get the picture. The beauty of this system would be not the fact that every news item will look neat and lovely and follow a format that people will get used to, but, that each item will be able to go straight onto the front page of the site (or prominently on thew News Page, at least) without anyone having to moderate it - which is what obviously seems to be the issue here.
All that would be required is to quickly implement a system that helps identify genuine label owners from spam. Just establish a quick database of labels, give them all a unique password or code that they enter on the News Form. If a new label comes about, just have a little link at the bottom of the form saying "Are you a new label? Register yourself with TheoreticalHardcore.com to get your latest news featured blah blah blag"
Hardly a ground breaking idea, I know. But it would be little features like this - designed to maximise information, and minimise processing time - that will help contribute to a good site.
What else would be good (but it could be massively cheeky and illegal, maybe not, I dunno?) is to have a Radio Stream section. There are tonnes of radio streams going out at all hours of the day, all over the web. It'd be a nice idea to have a page that has links to stream all of them (i.e. anyone you fancy at that time - obviously ridiculously to stream seven channels at once). But yeah, on paper, that sounds like it just wouldn't be allowed lol.

Ahh I understand now, I think.
Example: Artist could be put into the artist/label user group. Said group would have the ability to submit news following a template designed in a forum/form that is exclusive to that usergroup. The info submitted would then go to moderation/admin for approval, once approved it will appear on the front page. Excellent idea!!
The only problem I could see in that system is people would not be able to comment on the "news" as it would return them to the forum that is locked out unless they are in the usergroup, having everyone in that usergroup kind of defeats the object. I'm sure it could be worked around though.
Anymore ideas?

i would say its a brainstorm for a new site.
what do you guys mean by "moderator participation"?
getting the two or so moderators to talk more isnt going to improve the site :P
getting the other "38,860" members to start talking might help.

Just a few ideas you could include & some i know that work well on other sites:
A video section. Keep the Youtube videos in one place rather than having another Smoogie posting them over & over in different sections.
A shop section. This could have links to various shops selling Hardcore to stop people constantly asking "Does anybody know where i can buy Hardcore" or "Where can i buy this choon" etc.
A new releases section. A place where artists could add their new releases with samples for us to check out.
A sport discussion forum (I know of another forum where this works well) could be used for people to discuss all things sport.
A help section where members could discuss problems with computer etc
A movie / computer game section.
A Jokes / Funny pictures section.
Maybe a Old Skool Section, a Happy Hardcore section & a UK Hardcore section. This would stop people moaning about members wanting to discuss the older side of Hardcore.

You would have to offer something that people really want that also isn't a part of the websites you mentioned. Very difficult task! You could offer lots that those sites don't have but they key thing is that those things will need to make people want to come back repeatedly, for it to catch on.

Why acid?
What's wrong with asking for ideas?
It's not like (HH.COM Total Members: 38925) are going to leave this site to go elsewhere just because Stu has asked for people's opinions.
