But what's with all the stuff like early Pop and Funk from the 70s or 80s, it was also called dance music altough it was played on real instruments? :S
Of course both EDM and DM are correct :) EDM is just more "exact", it's like "What type of Hardcore? Happy Hardcore" but yeah- there is no non-electronic dance music :P
I still prefer "EDM" (or Electronic Dance Music) because Dance Music alone reminds me of cheesy and more commercial stuff (I'm not saying I don't like it) whereas I think EDM stands for more "Underground" stuff (Not as underground as the most underground Hardcore but let's say like Mainstream Trance or Mainstream Drum & Bass which is still much more "underground" than say Lady Gaga her stuff!)

I just call electronic music electronic music. I don't call it Dance music because as you say many people associate it with pop stuff.

Again you're over thinking it, it's just up-beat music you can dance to.
