I've noticed it's becoming rarer and rarer that I'll hear one of those favourite catchy tunes come out, which is disappointing, and as I go through Soundcloud and don't hear any songs that are better than "meh" I get a little more disappointed...
But if I listen to anything else I actually get bored, I have one friends that listens to Hardcore, and one who used to but not so much anymore and I can safely say it'd be so shit if that friend wasn't there to share the music that is good with. But if she wasn't, I'd still listen to Hardcore, I'm addicted... HTID :P

Karthy - you know you're more than welcome to join me on an rave excursion sometime -
Epidemik is coming up in London (for us its a 4:45pm train down, and a 7am train back, which is about 70)
but closer to home there is a HTID night coming up in Preston on Novemeber 17th

It's always come in waves, dies off then the next wave comes. I've been following since about 1992 when bouncy techno started to come in, that then moved to happy hardcore before the entire scene fell flat on its arse in around 1997/98 picked up again from 2000 onwards. Hardstyle seems to be taking its place but even that is now starting to be replaced by Gabber once again in Scotland. Happy Hardcore will be next to complete the cycle once more.
It's also region specific, Happy Hardcore is popular in some places and not others right now - really depends where you live.

I havent listened to it in weeks and the only reason i come on here any more is to see how other people are doing. I havent produced it in months, i havent listened to it in weeks, and when a ranom song comes on in a playlist or something i skip it straight away, being bored to tears in the first few seconds.
There's been nothing since about 2007 that i have been captivated by. There's been some okay tracks, but for the most part it's just boring and average to me now. I've heard nothing and been compelled to buy it.
Probably wont frequent here much any more, as it'd probably be easier just to keep in touch with people off the website.
Anyone who wants to keep in contact, add me on facebook.
This will most likely be my last thread, and maybe even the last time i come here... Apart from the odd times ill drop in purely because of boredom - but i doubt it'll happen often. Just don't see a reason to any more.
Also, someone needs to do the hhc.com awards, because obviously i wont be here.
Cheers all! Hope to see some adds on fb.
To me it sounds like you were never really into Hardcore anyway from your post, perhaps you just thought this is different to other dance music, and I'll give it a go, try to make a bit from it at the wrong time! Sad to see you go but this is from me to you!

God I love that stupidly cheesy stuff. In small doses. I remember JSPR's mixes. They were banging. Still listen to them on the odd occasion.

just food for thought :)
Yeah the only problem is travelling :P Considering going HHA later this year but it's so far away, would be spending too much money on simply getting there. Got any more details on the Preston event? Definately sounds interesting, I still need to send off for ID though! Lmao
its going to be a little chavvy which is a shame - but thats to be expected when it comes to HTID's..in preston....coupled with a Bounce arena lol (to be fair, thats sounds like a dangerous mixture)
its a little too UK hardcore for me - but i would feel a bit daft missing a night like this when its fairly close to the lakes..

I know we never got along too much but I can see your point. There are other types of music, EDM or other you will get into. Hardcore is going through a quiet patch anyway so it diosn't suprise me that people are getting bored of it.

Looks interesting, yeah chav fests are a shame but you build a bridge you know, line ups half decent, most of the people that I'd like to see at my first rave are there so yeah, definately gonna have to get the money together for that, even if it does mean begging my mum for money hahaha
Why isn't it on the events list though? Been looking on there for a while now for something to go to, if this would've been on I'd have known earlier D:

I think im here primarily because I enjoy production, but friends and people I know in the scene are another reason for my involvement. Its an entire network of friends, and its a shame some people find it so easy to forget that and leave because they don't enjoy the music.
this rang so true to me. This is a rant. Fair warning. There is also a tl;dr at the bottom.
It's unavoidable that i'd come back... Because i miss the banter. But i really think i am well and truly beyond hardcore. I havent had the motivation to make any since i started my new job (over 2 months ago now) and i havent listened to any in even longer. For those of you interested to know; i actually came back out of boredom and loneliness seeing as i'm pretty much confined to the house with a week off work due to some conjunctivitis.
I just feel it's a stale genre. And with the like of genres like dubstep becoming popular, i'm starting to wonder if im really just getting over electronic music in general. I'm learning a LOT towards rock these days, as it's such a diverse genre it has something to pick me up when i'm down (or let me indulge myself in some "feeling sorry") give me energy and helps me get through the day... I don't find a lot of edm that's so varied as that (and more).
It's really kind of sad because out of everyone i know, i have the broadest musical taste. A couple of years ago i liked (or loved) most genres, or could at least appreciate something about them. I had a bass clef and a treble clef tattoo'd on my wrists to signify my love for music - and while i still do love music (with a great, indescribable, unrelenting passion) i'm starting to find i'm HATING some of it. That's a new thing, and it's never happened to me before.
A lot of you will read this and think i'm pathetic, or i'm making a big deal out of nothing but music is a HUGE part of my life. I adore it with every fiber of my body. If i'm not at work, i have music playing. Doesn't matter where i am. Like i said before, it has such a dramatic effect on my day to day life, that listening to the wrong music for the wrong occasion can make for a really bad situation. I know i'm not alone in this because most great musicians (from the beatles to eminem) have made some reference to the profound effect music can have on ones mind, and on one's soul.
And not just that, but coming from the perspective of a songwriter it' SUCH an important part of my life because it's the biggest creative and emotional outlet i have. Sometimes when i need to let something out, i'll sit down and write a piano piece, or write a verse and chorus to a song, maybe with a guitar, maybe not, whatever i feel like. I record it if i need to, but i always keep some sort of a record. Because of this i have random audio files everywhere on my computer, several notebooks filled to the brim with lyrics and no sign of the momentum slowing ever.
This is why i hate people asking to hear stuff i've written. It's okay with the hardcore stuff because i've only ever released one song that had any meaning whatsoever and it turned out terribly pigeon-holed as a hardcore track. But, with most of what i've written (not the throwaway hardcore shit) it's so personal i find it akin to someone asking to read my diary (if i had one). It's basically the same thing. It's a record of how i'm feeling and what i'm thinking about on any given day in chronological order. What else is a diary if it idn't that? So, unfortunately because of that most of the songs i've written will probably never see the light of day.
That's a bit of a tangent but it illutrates my point perfectly. I just don't see much of a point in music that doesn't have any soul any more. And i've NEVER, in my 8 years of listening to hardcore, have i ever felt emotionally struck by a track. I've never sat there and thought "wow"... trying to imagine what the writer was going through, or the meaning they were ACTUALLY trying to convey under that metaphorical sleight of word. This is especially true now that i've spent years producing hardcore, and i've seen first hand how most hardcore tracks (both the big ones - one you all know, and the smaller one) have been written - and there's no harmony to it at all. Excuse the pun.
I understand that it was never really meant to be that. And to be honest, anyone seriously thinking that hardcore IS a deep or meaningful genre needs a reality check. But that's my point in it's entirety; I can no longer derive any sort of pleasure out of something as meaningless as hardcore. This goes for most genres akin to hardcore; Dubstep, electro, minimal, drum and bass etc. Don't get me wrong, there are a few in there that surprise me every now and then.. But on the whole it' just an empty chasm of meaningless words wrapped in a superficial and often stereotypical and musically unvarying and boring set of predictable key changes and not optimal notes. Shit, some of the artists in dubstep (excuse the hate on dubstep, i really feel it's just an empty fad) you can tell don't have a musical bone in their body. I can't tell you how many tracks i've heard that will play a progression (albeit an incredibly simple and basic one) and you can straight away hear it's unnatural because it wasn't the optimal path for the musical advancement.
Anyway, i could talk about this for days but i'm drawing near to being forced to include a convenient TL;DR addressing those who don't like rants... So,
TL;DR - i'm staying because i like the people here. But it was a hard decision because i don't like the music here. I sound a bit like smoogie but i'm finally starting to understand where he's coming from about hardcore. I still don't 100% agree, but i can understand.
In closing, i'd like to pull a smoogie and reference something (through youtube - that's the smoogie part) that is not only exceptional and adaptable songwriting, but i challenge anyone to not feel the emotions that is coming from chester's singing as he essentially pours out a performance of an emotional jacknife. It's Linkin Park's (imo, a collection of some of the most talented musicians of my generation) cover of Adele's "Rolling in the deep". Even if you don't like the song, i implore you to listen, as anyone should appreciate the amount of emotion that is coming from the singing.

i think these days the problem in everyone is so obsessed with doing something innovative and different, or just releasing something every ten minutes but forget about the music.
ive recently moved and theres a record shop in the next town selling hardcore vinyl 4 for a tenner so im rediscovering the older releases (2004 to 2007ish) and realised that a lot of it is tonnes better than the stuff being released today
