^ yeah I could moan too but really it's not worth the drama and it wouldn't accomplish much as you'll only be seen as a 'hater' or an 'keyboard warrior' or something...nothing will be thought about or changed. I think really we live in uninspiring times so ALL music is feeling the pinch creatively.
The 'scene' depends on where you are and the music depends on what you like and what you're currently listening to, I couldn't make a sweeping generalisation even if I wanted to; hardcore is too varied across the globe.

Yeah, as people have said - difficult to offer an opinion that applies to all elements/corners of the scene.
The only thing I will say is this: I seriously, seriously fcuking hope that this stuttering electro shit that the likes of Breeze, Petruccio & Modulate are pushing doesn't become the main influence in UK Hardcore. If they make a little off-shoot, and have their own little stuttering electro thing - that's fine. But if it's just the tip of the iceberg and other prominent people start producing it - it could be game over for me. It's worse than the fcuking minimal stuff. Jesus. What's more irritating is that the three I've mentioned are three of my favourite producers. They've made some awesome tracks over the years, consistently. I just think to myself "We must have similar tastes - you've made this stuff, and I've loved it. Now, how is it that you've made this new stuff and think it sounds good. People's ears can't be that different".
I'd like to hear more stuff like the tracks that Andy Dee signs to his label (Make Believe Records). He has impeccable taste (well, impeccable in terms of what I want to be hearing).

the 'stuttering Electro' thing is also about the recent 'Dubstep' that people are getting into. If you look at the Ruffbeatz.com website. There's loads of Dubstep being mass produced and I don't know if this is doing any good for the H-Core scene.

I'd happily give my opinion on each aspect of the scene if asked, might take a while though!
I've always been optimistic about things, even when disappointed with how things are going. Jay mentioned the 'electro shit' style that's popular at the minute. I don't like it either - not because i don't think it doesn't belong in hardcore, but because i just don't like it! As it happens, i don't like it in house, electro etc either - but in some cases it works.
And that's it, it's just opinions. I can't be accused of being closed-minded because i listen to all styles and spend a shit load of money every week on whatever i like the sound of.
Not a fan of the so-called 'minimal drop' style but that doesn't stop me loving tunes like Bang your head off & Pure fish.
I much prefer 'proper' Drum & Bass to a lot of breakbeat hardcore but i'm still obsessed with the latest HU breaks tunes.
The new trend in producing vocal led, watered down gabba makes it sound like UK Hardcore with a harder kick but i still love the sound AS WELL as the more extreme stuff.
I'd rather talk about what i DO like but there's nothing wrong with having negative opinions on something you're passionate about - it shows you care.

I'm disappointed by the amount of catchy tunes coming out lately... they're the thing I like most about hardcore, I'm not going to lie.
Typically, I'm seeing one, maybe 2 per big album that comes out, whereas 5 - 10 years ago 90% of an album was bloody catchy!
For example... (hate to use commercial examples but anyway...) HH Summer Madness, My Forever Love and Trust In Me (at a push)... Clubland X-Treme Hardcore 1 (again sorry for listing commercial examples)... at least 50% of the songs on there I pretty much know off by heart nowadays, and that isn't even close to the best example of a catchy album I could give but you get the idea...
I just think too many producers are concentrating on being completely original and unique than just pumping out absolute tunes (quite funny how I should say this with Archefluxx being the OP, with him being one of my favourite Hardcore artists atm)
I don't know... on one side there are too many producers being too similar to every ****er else, and on the other hand, there are the producers that are being so unique that it sounds like shit... It's just all wrong :P
I just await the day an album comes out and it's full of absolute belters that I will listen to 24/7 for the next 10 years until another beast of an album comes out... until that day I will cry :'(
And once again I'd like to agree with Jay... It seems he's slowly becoming my 2nd brain (/ ears)...

A lot of people will probably disagree. But I think it's the best it's ever been. Producers are trying lots more different things like dubsteps, breakbeats, Electro riffs, Oldskool, even NRG Hard House and Hardstyle etc. Really glad it does'nt all sound like Trance on speed anymore. Variety is so important for a music genre!!!
So many amazing producers out there that I really rate like Joey Riot, Mob, Gammer, Klubfiller, Darwin, Recon, Fracus, Squade, Dougal, Entity, Kurt, Hixxy etc.
Just look at the atmosphere at Westfest 2011 on youtube, awesome!!

hehe guess we'll have to agree to disagree on that one. Personally I think all the electro, techno and dubstep is great in Hardcore. Stuff like GAMMER AND KLUBFILLERS "FUTURE FUZZ" or DOUGAL AND GAMMERS "MONSTER" etc. Hardcore has to move with the times. All the younger crowd love dubstep and electro in hardcore. Just look at how much it goes off when played at big parties.

Imo some of it's okay, but most of it's crap... I'm more of a fan of vocal hardcore, or even just melodic hardcore, that'd what most hardcore lovers have grown to love.
This whole move to the dirty side of hardcore was more because of the fact that it can get more interest to the scene than it actually sounds good to people who genuinely follow hardcore, which I disagree with... That, and the fact that it sounds like shit make it not a good thing in my eyes... But I can understand that others may like it, just not for me :P
