You're right. It is indeed funny just how bad that tune is.
Hence why it is called Rubish lol
The thing alot people dont understand about Gabber is, back in 1992 when this tune first came out, people where at the raves in Rotterdam (Parkzicht) and off their heads on drugs and as the night progressed, the tracks got more stomping, this tune, when dropped at the right time would have got the dance floor rocking! I mean you watch a youtube vid, think 'thats shit' and then assume it was a dud but its that very attitude which made this tune an enjoyable listen in the Parkzitch set I downloaded (yes, ripped from tape) and this is how Gabber started.
Compare this to Nu Style Gabber, if modern Gabber was plaied back then chances are people would have thought there was something wrong with the sound system or something. Gabber has to catch you in the right mood, the right frame of mind. Those who don't understand would have thought it was shit so naming a tune 'Rubbish' was the Dutch way of sticking their fingers up at the mainstream.
Now 20 years on it is saddening to think people would slag off these early tunes just because they don't understand them. I don't hear anyonr slagging off the big anthems such as SL2 on a Ragga Tip or Awesome 3 don't go yet those outside of the Rave Scene would have thought the same as well.
My verdict: This tune is Hardcore and urinates all over that modern Clubland shite

I would but im pretty busy at the moment so I doubt I would have time for it lol But I would love it if we had some Old Skool Gabber in the UK but being from South England there is very little chance of that so I download all the live sets from back in the old days. Gabber was at its best between 1992-1997

Lenny Dee was at the Industrial Strength Records tour in Brighton...last year I think. There's definitely more interest going back into the gabber scene...it will get stronger IMO and that's when you'll start to see more old skool gabber rooms etc.

Going down well at a rave full of drugged up Dutchmen doesn't mean a thing. I was around when the tune came out and it sounded just as shit back then as it does now.

Gabber doesn't have to have a distorted kick to be gabber, the kick just needs to be the main focus of the tune. Lots of old gabber tracks have really bouncy kicks.

I think he meant Gabber in general, not that is HAS to have a distorted kick to be called Gabber.
