Yes. Mission has done a version and I'm sure Jakazid said he was doing one. I can imagine there will be a fair few. :P

Exactly my feelings. Getting tired of hardcore producers making their own covers of these shitty one-hit-wonder songs. I loathe dougal & gammer's remix of we speak no americano.

Psy is hugely popular and have been years before this tune (In Korea and among Kpop listeners). Western news stations / youtube users only found out about it because it ranked high on youtube charts. The amount of shite, disinformation, stupid remixes and crappy parodies that followed annoy me, but that doesn't strip away the merits of the original artist and the track. So no, it wasn't a one-hit-wonder. It was the 6th album from a well known artist, which western media is doing everything they can to powerplay to death.

That's still no excuse for copying his horrible tracks.

not sure what you're getting at whispering
like you say, the chap has been around for a stupidly long time - and the world outside K-pop (a massive world!) had never heard of him...and it took this stupid video for people to notice him
and they aren't even noticing him, all they see is his video..
artistically I would be pretty bummed if the only reason people were paying attention to (my music) me was because of a viral video..
I'm not into K-pop, but I would have thought people who listen to k-pop must feel somewhat annoyed that the only time they're genre is taken seriously commercially is when it has nothing to do with the actual music itself

I'd imagine some of the conversations went like this
"gangnam style, you haven't heard it?"
"no"
..
..
*plays music*
..
..
"sounds shit!"
"ohh man, you have to see it with the video to appreciate it"
..
..
*plays music video*
..
..
"see?"
"HAHAHA THIS SONG IS SO AWESOME"

I don't know why people, not into the music, watch the video. For what its worth it was apparently #1 on the download charts here. I thought the song was good. So i really have no ground to give my opinion to any of your points. What i was getting at, was sheer annoyance of e.g. radio playing the song because it was popular on youtube. Like ****, they didn't even know who hes was (like not-even-reading-a-wikipedia-article -know who he was). They just played it cause everyone else was playing it.
Also i have no desire for it to get popular outside Asia. The Asian market is big enough to support it and keep the good stuff flowing. I listen eurodance, happy hardcore and whatnot. Nobody has ever taken what i listen seriously. It's never bothered me. But when they start promoting their tunes in Japan, its made differently. In US, it gets a US vibe to it. I don't like that. Because they change what made the music good in the first place, at least for me. Kinda like they changed Hardcore by taking influence from stuff i don't like. So if Psy's US album will be a huge success, good for him. But i probably wont be buying it. Ill just keep hoping it doesn't start a trend. I've already seen the two formerly mentioned genres getting ruined.
