Is there EVER going to be a new Bonkers, or is this the end of the line?

After both of the original owners (React and Resist) went belly up, All Around the World - a label whose primary interest is money - snatched up the rights to the series. They proceeded to release Bonkers: The Original Hardcore a few years ago, and haven't done anything related to Bonkers since. Combined with the fact that one of the key figures related to Bonkers, Sharkey, has since retired, I think it's safe to say that the chances of another Bonkers album are null.

AATW only licensed the name from whoever is the rights holder of the name, perhaps the former CEO of Resist or something, technically anyone with enough cash could release another one, but since the only CD's being released are indies I wouldn't hold my breath.
Who needs bonkers when you have hardcore addiction and hardcore underground anyway :)

Tbh, I wish they would just leave it be. Let the brand age/die with dignity ;p
On a related note, I do wish there would be another series of hardcore albums that didn't have the word 'hardcore' in it's name. Everyone hearing about it will know it's hardcore, anyway :p

As per what AATW said
"We only took license to release one album - Bonkers is now back with Resist and has been for a year"
since they folded I believe the copywrite lays with Sharkey now? (from what he said whilst the whole Zonkers thing was kicking off)

As good as Bonkers was, it's still only a name. Any new Bonkers album would only have the same music to choose from as the rest.

Yeah that's what i was going to say. There are CD's better than (recent) Bonkers being released so the only reason to want an actual Bonkers release is for the name.

I didn't realise all the rights were with Sharkey.
That really does spell the end then, thankfully. The recent ones were pretty bad compared to the originals.

don't quote me on that part, thats just what I (and I expect everyone else) gathered from the Zonkers thread
"Just thought i would let you know that you are breaching my copyright.
Paul Garners work is copyrighted and you have used the font which again is copyrighted. You will have to find some new artwork right away and stop promoting the album with the Zonkers as you are again breaching my copyright."

More Bonkers would mean more CD covers for Triquatra to charge around the country getting signed so probably best left as it is :-p

TBH I never thought that Zonkers was a genuine parody. I mean yes it mocked the title, font and art cover, but the album's music as a whole never mocked bonkers. It used its likeness to gain popularity. And even if olly never planned on making a cent off the album, I believe you still have to go to the proper channels so there won't be any legal issues over this.
I'd say that a true parody album would have to be the gutter techno experience- a tribute to the gods of hardcore : scooter.
