Hi was planning on putting on a private party ( with a few mates helping towards costs ) im djing myself and im lucky enuff to know a few who wud do it for free, playing various styles of dance music but i need to know about the rules on putting on parties in the UK. Basically the plan is too hire out summat shit at first like a village hall or working mens club, but we want it to run till at least 1 am. is there ne licenses u have to apply for, because its gonna b a small party anyway 100 so peope max but we have to sell tickets and drinks etc to make our money back, we're not too fussed bout profit we'd just liek to make enuff to b able to make it regular n perhaps get a few good names playing in future occasionally. Any help would be appreciated heaps. I'll probably be on the lookout for dj's in future aswell if ur pretty local.
Cheers:)

i've put parties on before and there hasn't been any guidelines to follow as such, just your basic things to remember like get loads of flyers out,set a good price to pay in (not too much so it puts them off but enough to break even from the costs). don't expect absolutely loads of money from your first event unless you're looking for a miracle.
on one of the events i played at,it was only a small village hall in cumbria but the neighbours complained and as a result that had to stop. you need to think about a place where you can have it loud and get away with it.
as for running it till 1,if the place hasn't got a late license then no beer after 11,simple as.
btw i must say you're spelling's totally improved m8 :) i can actually read your posts now lol

ill play for free
and if it runs till 1am the beer will be till 12:30
(late bar licence = time.. say 12:30 + 30 mins drinking up time)
