As it says, when did the top tier dj's start using CDJ's instead of turntables? I've been in to hardcore since around 02/03 and been going to raves since 04. As far as I can remember its been CD's all the way. Can anyone remember the days when all dj's used vinyl? Same with mix cd's like bonkers, when did they stop mixing them on vinyl?

Around 2002/03/04 ish I remember Scott Brown use to bring his own Pioneer 100s to gigs that didn't have cdjs around that time anyway.

Would have been around 2003. Remember Sy turning up to nights with his cdj 200s with him around then. Think Robbie Long held out the longest and used vinyl up until 2005 if my memory is correct.

I'd say digital mixing was standard by 2006.

I wouldn't wonder if vinyl makes a comeback. Already in the 80's everyone forecasted the end of its era and it came back. In my favorite club in my home town some DJs offer Vinyl-only sets (mostly House and Techno) and in a few stores started to offer them again (mostly Rock vinyls). To my opinion digital and vinyl combined DJ-solutions are going to establish in the future (especially once the Americans find out how much good music they are banning and missing if they continue with their pure digital world.

Vinyl is already at an all high, generally speaking (not Hardcore). For most people though, as i said before, it will just be a novelty and when there is a much cheaper option available to them that is what they will use. That's why people moved to digital mixing to begin with. Cheaper, more convenient. Those things won't change.

late 2001, start of 2002. Scott Brown used to play 1 record and 1 CD in early 2002

I agree, but if digitally is the going to be the pure future, older tracks should be digitally re-released as well. Artist don't do it (sometimes simply caused by the point: they're already dead)!

Well that's entirely up to the artist or label in question. Also it's not my opinion by the way. I much prefer vinyl.
