Seeing people like Ham succeed elsewhere just makes you realise how cliquey the hardcore scene is. Such a shame :(

Ham's easily in my top 3 all-time favourite hardcore producers. Over the last 7 years or so, he hasn't produced a single tune that I haven't loved. I really hope he sees his way to coming back at some point, the news that he might not be is quite literally depressing me!

the reason why I hate the word up&coming. Wasn't Gammer treated like that aswell, even tho he has produced tracks with dougal since 2001ish?

He was treated as an up and coming producer when he was an up and coming producer in the early 2000's. Then his popularity grew hugely from about Bonkers 11 time. So there is no problem there. But Robbie Long & Devastate have been well established since 1997. Also similar story for Al Storm. The people that know him now don't know him for his 90's stuff, generally.

Did wonder what was going on with Quosh with Unknown doing his own thing.

Didn't he win Best Breakthrough DJ - or something equally hilarious/insulting - within the last three or four years?

He did. He shouldn't have even been in the running for that. What kind of message does it give to newcomers, when someone who has been in the hardcore scene since the mid 90's has only just won best breakthrough DJ?

if he didn't facepalm on stage, he should've.
"thanks for the vote people, I don't know what to say, it took me literally being recognised for 10 years to get to this point, but thanks anyways you ungreatful bastards!"

Not sure it's entirely the ravers' fault...

Well the person who put him up as an actual nominee is definitely partly to blame, but it is also the dumbass ravers' fault too. They did vote for him after all, but I would imagine that he would have still been on that list until he actually won, or until this past HH awards where the nominees were picked by the voters themselves.

Well i've been catching some of the stuff on trackitdown that Unknown is putting out and i've got to say it's dreadful really and it's obvious which one in the partnership has all the producing talent.

True
There's no doubt Sy had a massive influence on their joint productions, but to say he had "all the producing talent" (in one of, if not the most legendary Hardcore pairings of all time) from the two of them is frankly a fcuking piss-take.
I love Sy as much as the next person, and I happen to agree that Unknown's current solo productions are lifeless, bland and formulaic - but they were a partnership, and both played their part.
From what I understand, Sy doesn't actually engineer tracks, does he? Hence why we've not seen him go solo (wheeey) as well. If he had "all" the talent, he'd be bashing out tunes himself, wouldn't he.

Yeah but with his name tarnished is it no wonder we hardly hear from him?
Although he does do some events it's not a patch on the lineups he used to be in seeing as a lot of the hardcore scene people have turned their backs on him.

It's not a question of him keeping a low profile. It's the fact that he doesn't (or extremely rarely) produces solo tracks.
