Interesting responses!

I've also been listening to old Force & Styles sets recently! I used to like them at the time (who didn't?) but I find MC Junior (RIP) so amazing listening back now!

It's quite handy that nearly all the Helter Skelter and Dreamscape events are on YouTube now, too! Quick listening!

I started listening to Hardcore in the late 2000's so early happy hardcore is really hard for me to get into so I always listen to Orbit1, Sc@r, Haze , S3RL and all the other big Australian DJs & Producers.

I actually hated F&S when I first started hearing them, had to listen to them a couple times over to enjoy them...think it was their mix off of radio one that finally got me to like them.

mostly listen to anything that sounds old =P really been diggin the future jungle sound lately...

Gotta agree with you mate! Right now i'm into the freeform mixes but I've always been a fan of German/Dutch Happy core music. Was never really into Speedcore or Industrial Hardcore/Gabber. I'm also listening to 2009 Hardstyle which sounds like hardcore to me anyways- just booming it in my car at the moment. It's kickin'!

Basically anything with a melody... Gammer is really good at making this dubcore sound and maintaining a melody and catchy riffs, whilst Breeze (lol), Styles, Recon and the others seem to only incorporate a huge melody in the breakdown then farty boring drops or with a lame, generic square melody that hardly excites me. Like Concrete Angel, that's a good example of boring, generic square melody. The song is so ****ing fantastic but the melody doesn't do much for me and would be a 10/10 if it had a more pronounced, maybe saw:ier melody.

Mainly listen to Hardcore Underground and Gammer these days... Unless I go back in time two years.

I listen to the "older" mainstream sound and bit of hardcore breaks.

Would you say the kinds of hardcore around currently are the "older" mainstream sound, hardcore breaks, dubcore or electro and powerstomp? Some tracks can be hard to decide in what category/sub-genre they are.

Tracks from this year would listen to are: Chris Fear - Pump It Up, Fire Meets Fire. Stu Infinity - Save My Life, Dowster & Vagabond and Doug Horizon & Darwin - Seasons.

The more kick/snare percussion style which is becoming more common in mainstream tracks now is growing on me eg. Hixxy - Deep into the night (2013 Remix).

Haven't really listened to much dubcore tbh.

Hey Sam,
I love all forms of Electronica, yes Hardcore Gabber is up there, however I'm just digging the Hardstyle at the moment. It's just the industrial side of Hardcore Gabber that's putting me off a bit.
