Oldskool Supaset Volume One

PLEASE READ BEFORE DOWNLOADING

Hi Everyone,

Below is a link to my latest set, imaginatively entitled ?Old Skool Supaset Volume One?. This is the set I played at Bust An Old Jam on March 22nd 2014.

I am asking you to consider donating some money for this set. As regulars already know, I have given away a hell of a lot of music and sets over the years. It is part of my philosophy to share what I can when I can. Yet it is also undeniably true that there is hardly any money in the hardcore scene anymore. So I thought I would try this little experiment. I think this set is far better than what you might get from buying a compilation album. Is it too much to ask for a show of appreciation for the work put into it? Yes? No? Maybe? Lets find out :)

To be clear, the reasons I am asking for donations on this set when I don?t usually are:-

1. Flights to the UK were expensive and Bust An Old Jam contributed what they could, but couldn?t cover it. I dont mind doing things for free, but if I could cover costs, that would be nice!

2. It took me 6 weeks to make and most importantly?

3. If I get enough donations I will make a part two.

You can pay as much or as little as you want, or none whatsoever lol. I honestly don?t mind either way :)

Here is the link to the set in 320MP3 quality:-

They had him over for a gig but they didn't pay for all of his flight and possibly accomodations? That's fucked up. Promoters do it for most, if not all, UK djs booked for gigs here in the US (unless they scam them out of their money, which has happened in the past) so it should only be right to give the same courtesy to Luna-C. He is, after all, from England. Hell he even played for free. If you can't at least bother to pay for all their flights and accomodations, then don't bother booking them at all.

I will say that I know that HTID doesn't pay much for the North American djs to come over and play HTID these past couple of years, and they're fine with that it was agreed upon before their arrival, plus none of them have an established presence as long as Luna-C has nor impacted the industry quite like he has.

i dont know what the story is with luna c, i just saw it on his kniteforce page and thought i would help promote his set as he is one of the most decent guys ever existed in this scene and has always supported alot of us artists over the years

The USA artists at htid in the sun always had flights and accommodation covered, the artists fees were always arranged by one person over there who chose who repped the usa and canada so i cant speak on that side of things

Awesome set. Loved it. Donated too because Chris is a legend and a great guy and he does somethings that no one else in this scene does.

Just to clear things up - it was my choice to play the gig, knowing before I did that I would not be paid. Kingsize is a dear friend of mine and had helped me out on numerous occasions with KFA for years - it would not be far from the truth to say without him the label would never have got off the ground. And anyway, I wanted to play.
The gig was very small - the club could hold 180 people maximum. So there was certainly no foul play or anything like that, it was all above board, and agreement between friends for the fun and pleasure of all involved. Plus I hadn't been to the UK in ages and wanted to see family and friends.
It was a great party, and I had a blast.
As for the donation thing, I thought I would try it out. The beauty of a donation option is that it is an OPTION. I made it quite clear that no one was expected to send me money, but that if people felt that they would like to, it would be appreciated. And if they did not, that would be fine too.
I think anyone who knows me and my history will be well aware that I am not, and have never been, in the scene for the money. Which is a good thing, cos there is very little of it lol. On the other hand, I have given away a huge amount of music over the years, so felt if people wanted to show some appreciation while helping me out with the costs of flying etc, then thats all good. Many people have, and many people have not. Its all good.
And for the record, Kingsize and Crissy DID pay me some money, out of their own pockets because an even that small barely covers costs. They did that because they are nice. I like working with nice people.

Took the words out of my mouth. Whilst some artists ask for 1000 Facebook likes to give away an bootleg or details of an upcoming album or something, Luna-C gives away his entire back catalogue. Maybe not free right now, but still. It's absolutely not unreasonable to hint at a possible donation, after everything you've done for the scene and the folk within it you deserve a few quid chucked your way to help with costs. God knows how many man hours goes into those Supasets that you let us have. I still regularly blast out number 4 to this day (the others too but mostly this one!)
If everyone who downloaded the latest Supaset chucked even one dollar in, it would raise a mighty amount (I would expect, anyway), and hopefully encourage more music and UK visits in the future!

Amen.

I will be donating, and praying to work with Luna-c one day. The word legend is almost derogatory!

A promoter in Atlanta, GA booked DJ Hixxy. When Hixxy got here, the promoter pretty much told him there was no money.

Mate don't talk about shit that you don't know the full story on, Kingsize and Luna C are mates. You always chime in with your opinion on here but you know very little about what goes on. Count to 10 before you type.
