that argument is not really backed up.

imo accept cheques and postal orders, which are purchased for cash so you could easily buy vinyls from imo.
have you not tried that option?

im not sure if all shops accept these, but most will.

as for the mp3 argument, from hardcores p.o.v

it does give people the opportunity to get into hardcore,
but it is ripping off the producers, who dont get a lot of income from the tunes really.

im not a fan of illegal mp3s, but i cant see anyone bein able to cut them out ever to be honest.

to virus:

about your comment on not supporting mp3 djs, i think that it is a great technology, and that it is extremely beneficial(sp?) to all the unknown producers, and starting labels, in that its a cheap, fast and reliable way to get their music played out at parties.

BUT i think its shit when say for example a dj would go download a copy of a NEW (and readily available for purchase) tune, burn it, and release mixes and play it out without paying for it.

now, take for example Jimmy J - 99 red balloons (jj1 remix), or atension - angels (or any rare out of print, highly UNavailable tune)... what is wrong with downloading an mp3 of this, when the ONLY way to buy it is to buy it off some guy in another country for 50-100 dollars, which the original artist or record label gets no payment for ?

Oh man, I hope I didn't brain my damage...

regarding final scratch,i'm all for this IF it's used in the right way. i'm looking to get this bit of hardware, back up all my tunes to high quality mp3 and not share the tunes out,100% legal therefore.

but i will say that all the dj's that use pcdj or atomixmp3 need shooting. pushing a button to find the pitch setting is not dj-ing imo. even if there is alot of pushing buttons involved with final scratch you still need to have your mixing ability to use it.

kg4: i just think its lame to play downloaded tracks.. i've spent lots of money on rare tunes that i could've easily downloaded and burn on cd..

having rare tunes that other people dont gives you exclusivity to that track.. and people will enjoy hearing you play, as you play different and rarley heard tunes then other dj's..

^^ very good point

but i didnt mean to play them out, i only think that promotional use of mp3s should be the only accepted form of mp3djing

but i was talking about just listening to it for your own pleasure. sorry, that last bit was misleading, so i know why you thought that

Oh man, I hope I didn't brain my damage...

^^ exactly ... I'm amazed that people still expect punters (who're after a good listen) to either buy into a DJ's medium, or to put up with whatever mix CD's the labels decide to put out.

take into consideration, people like me, im kinda new to tha scene. mp3s only introduced to me the scene and now i but cds and stuff, id rather have the cd cuz its not the same as a burned cd. i dunno, but whatever i think mp3s are opening up the scene to more people and making hhc more accessable

well i think its an argument where theres never gonna b one right answer, mp3s r good in some cases because lots of ppl wouldnt even have heard of happy hardcore if it wasnt for this, ive introduced many people into it by making them download a happy hardcore song, and even tho this doesnt necessarily mean they are going out to go and buy the music, it gives the scene some publicity.
i think the people who want to support the music will go out and buy the records/cds whether they can download them or not, just depends on how much they want to support the hhc scene!
