Blah ... my friends and I were actually on our way out of the happy scene, dabbling around with freeform, gabber, trance ... I was even starting to get back into RnB in a major way, all because we got a bit disenchanted with the cheesy happy sound. It was only when we started getting the "new" sound of hardcore (darker, edgier, sometimes trancier) that my interest was rekindled.

Unfortunately, it was already too late for my friends, who're now so far into the depths of gabberhood that I can see no return for them.

hooverlover I agree with you, the new stuff I'm hearing is ok but it just doesn't compare to the hardcore sound I fell in love with from Bonkers 3 and a few years before and after.

The old stuff was smashing, I agree. I don't think the new stuff sounds like trance though, not all of it at least. And as far as it being more "open-minded" then, I think hardcore is just as open to new ideas and ventures today. I hear some pretty original stuff once in a while. I mean back in the day you had a few key, really good anthems and everything else kinda' followed the model of those songs. I think it's about even IMO

Don't blame the music if your interests can't keep up. Personally this is a golden age of hardcore for me. So many styles and ideas mashed up and still the production nor the speed suffers, they only get better. There's plenty of 96 style stuff around so if you don't like the direction hardcore is going in take your own direction with your music and stop maligning those who have a little vision in their's.

i think that people are sad when they knock down someone else's music tastes

it is bad enough when you hear about junglists bashing trance fans

it's even worse when there is bashing inbetween the evolution of one genre

if you enjoy hhc from seven years ago so much, listen to your cds at home. let people have their own tastes and styles

Hooverlover u shud search harder like sum1 said earlier because not all "new hardcore" is trancy infact sum very far from it, i was sceptical about the change at first because it is VERY diff from 96 hardcore but if u give it a chance im sure u'll find sum new stuff being produced that will tickle ur fancy, after all its still hardcore, still has the same principles , basic elements etc.

Or failing that do what u said n get ur ass in a studio!!!!

Like a bolt of lightning it's so frightning..Get ur brain now we're igniting
