- Firstly Wong up until the last couple of years (which coincidentally was when freeform seemed to drop off) I liked it quite a lot and these guys who took over somewhat changed the style to this darker twistier stuff and removed the euphoric element
If you took time to listen to some of the very latest ReBuild tunes you'd know I release a LOT of euphoric stuff:
My albums have always been a mixed bag, from cheesy and vocal euphoric freeform to dark psy to gabber to big kickdrum hardcore to breaks to slower hard trance stuff to trancey makina and back again.
quote: (which is my personal reasons for not liking it). That however is not what i'm getting at. The change seemed to make freeform lesser than, ie dropped off the big events etc. If you look at Beatport and Trackitdown these days, there are a lot less freeform tracks about and the ones that are tend to be skippable, that's what i'm getting at.
Only a few labels release digital music, Stamina is one of them. ReBuild, Watchtower, Smiling Corpse etc tend to release CDs, so if you're looking on mp3 sites you're looking in the wrong place. I realised a long time ago that not only was releasing mp3s boring for me, it also made a lot less money and had a lot less hype. To be fair to Stamina I think all of their releases are very strong and not 'skippable', don't you like This, Codex, Carburettor etc? Have you actually gone through their latest releases and listened properly or are you basing this on assumption?
quote: Secondly thumpa no i'm not trying to wind you up. if i was i would do a much better and directed job job of had have no fear. I also used to buy a lot of the rebuild cds when there was some variety and quick liked a lot of the freeform. You guys were doing things others were not and the day came when you all took a douglas suppository and the variety ended. The cds lacked variety and i couldn't buy them anymore. of course you will say that they still sell out. Well i'm sure 400 or so could sell out but when measured against the thousands in years gone by i think it's a little sad which is again what i'm getting at.
Firstly, Douglas wasn't even on the last album (33 tracks!) apart from a remix. I don't know how you think any of these tracks sound like Douglas if you actually went through all 33 tracks properly, be my guest - https://soundcloud.com/rebuild_music/sets/aint-no-grave-final-rebuild-1 Again, if you listen to the tracks you'll realise there is a LOT of variety, there's ruff hardcore from Guld, vocal stuff from jD-KiD, Ibiza style stuff from him, a rare colab in the FINRG style from Alek and Aryx, big kickdrum stuff from Olly Addictive, a brand new Kev Energy track, bouncy hardcore from Little Fella, old unreleased track from Blender, I could go on and on. How you can you love Nu Energy but don't think my label has variety is laughable, Nu Energy was great but 9 times out of 10 it was dancefloor freeform. Please think about what you're typing before you type it. If you think any freeform label before me sold thousands and thousands of CDs then think again, I know the numbers. I think you moan for the sake of moaning, you don't realise the hard work that goes into my albums and the stress, dedication and pride that goes into the CD on top of a full time job and looking after a 6 month old daughter, you seem to think that Kev Energy is going to come and wave his magic wand and make everything great again when, to be fair, towards the end of him playing at big raves he was dumbing down his sets quite a bit probably because of people like you moaning. Freeform has never been better, and I was there when it started in late 96, early 97. Please do not rubbish something when you haven't done your research. If you really still think freeform isn't as good, paypal me ?5 to [email protected] and I'll send you a copy of Ain't No Grave and you can have a proper listen to the 33 tracks and then tell me I'm still talking shit.

I think this threads been unnecessarily negative. Ive got nothing but up most respect for the boys that stepped up before (& more so) after Kev called it a day.
Freeform could have fallen flat on its arse but I think everyone pulled together & it really found its identity. Its a strong little scene now which is now unbreakable.
People have branched off & built their own solid foundations for the movement, it couldn't be a better time for Kev to return & ensure these foundations are strengthened.
I'm really looking forward to the future of Freeform, its one of the only real creative outlets our scene has to offer.
