well, you could resort to more "ecchi" (but not blatant hentai) pics on some videos (where the picture would fit the song)
I'm not 100% sure but if you want to be correct, ecchi is actually worse, as hentai just means pervert, and ecchi actually refers to the act of sexuality :P
I think there's a disconnect between what the words actually mean, and what they are applied to.
Echii is more softcore, most of the (suggestive) anime pics attached to youtube videos are echii. Hentai is more hardcore (it'd get reported).

^^^^
that's exactly what I meant
after all, it would just be stupid to say "use hardcore pics, but not blatant softcore" xD

From what i know ecchi means the english letter 'H', from Hentai. Used as a genre or theme (at least in west), not really softcore pornography (pinku eiga genre would be a closer match to softcore), more like filled with explicit fanservice. Hentai is used for adult anime.
Edit: As for the topic, as others have said, cleavage is the quickest way. As far as anything not yet mentioned goes, back in the day doing remixes of popular songs were used to lure people in. Might work in youtube channels too ...or might get you a lawsuite, who knows.

When it comes to music I don't think people click through just because there is a chick in the thumbnail.
I mean that works with things like "top 20 most embarrassing moments" but for music videos? I don't think the draw would be much greater than sticking a vegetable as the thumbnail.

If you wrote 'like and share this vegetable, for no reason', you might get a few hundred sub-100 IQ knobheads going for it.

I basically have no idea. You must have the most popular Hardcore channel in the world, anyway (outside of the huge Dutch artists maybe).
Outside an expensive, organised marketing campaign - I'm not really sure what there is.
Do you have a Twitter account that runs alongside the YouTube channel? Hammering Twitter and getting huge numbers of Re-Tweets can probably achieve some decent growth. That said, you've gotta be Tweeting those videos pretty relentlessly to build some momentum.
