ok well, the time has come :D been mixing awhile now and im about to hit the clubs, scored my first gig and im nervous as hell :P
basically seeing as you lads and lasses here know your hardcore i wanna run a few things past you....
well where i live, hhc gets played NEVER but there its quite a large fan base for it, but no djs. thats about to change, but seeing as it dosent get played out much im thinking it could be a chance to dust off those old 12" and play a bit cheesy. im playing a 90 min set and i was thinking first 1/2 old bouncy stuff maybe dreamland, eternity, cloudy daze, devotion, elysium etc etc and then move into some of the more trancy sounds, maybe few of the newish raverbaby or essential platinum tunes then end with a few the new evolution plus tunes.
of course im going to have to see how things go on the night, but from experience how hard/fast do you djs rkn i can play a set starting @ 5am? i know im always up for early morning hardcore :D
ill be playing after hardtrane/german trance djs, whats the etiquette for starting my set? let his rekid play out, mix into it? what..what do you ppl do?
ill prolly start with techno wonderland, cos you know its hhc, got a mad intro and is just damn choice, but mixing that into german trance, i think not. So tips ppl ;)
anyway that was a pretty random post im still a bit scattered from the weekend, but if you can make any sense of it, please give me a few pointers =D
ta in advance

be insane like i do sometimes, start of melodic trance, speed up to hard house, then on one track keep movin the pitch up and up then onto 45rpm and then blast out hardcore. But i only did this once as a muck around.
I play me first gig very soon as well, so fingers crossed good luck mate

If the crowd looks bored when you started then start off with something new a fresh perhaps faster or whatever to show that there is a new DJ on.
If the crowd are into the DJ before you then whatever the DJ is playing before you try to match it speed and style and then continue on with your stuff.
If you screw a mix up, ignore it and continue, you don't have to look at the crowd just think like no one else is here and you are DJing by yourself...
I remember my first big gig and I was a little nervous but as soon as the first mix was completed I was into it and was not so nevous anymore...
Two things to remember, the place will be HOT so bring a small towel as you are going to get real wet and you wont be used to it... you might not be used to standing up for 90 mins as well so bring 1 or 2 beers or water or whatever you are into drinking.
If you mess up a mix, forget about it and move onto the next mix.

a 5am hardcore set? that's going to be rough. by then people are ready to leave so make sure you grab them by their ears and to stay on the dancefloor. if it's hard trance set before, maybe playing a popular hardtrance song that is also hardcore would be a great way to start. 90 minutes is a long time to stand to so move around, dance a bit to your set, show you are into it too.
