Different reasons for different people i guess, it's interesting to see what influences people into music preferences.

I don't think there are specific reasons, like if you ask someone why they don't like HHC they may come up with a reason you haven't thought of.

Edit: Just noticed it was your first post! Welcome, hope you enjoy yourself here.

Dave!

Quick summation:

  • Some people equate the 'euphoric happy sound' to 'gay,' and, being homophobes, are consequently discouraged.
  • Some people do not like the speed aspect (although I do not know why.)
  • The completely wrong stereotype that most people who listen to techno are gay. (not that there would be anything wrong with that!) See #1.
  • For junglists, it's simply that it's too happy (see #2.) A lot of people look at happycore as the 'black sheep' of techno, but they're quite wrong.

I've heard people accuse people into funky house as being gay, but with most other dance music, especially the harder types, people into that are described as druggies or pill poppers.

Well, I mean, come on, there's a funky house remix of 'in the navy,' if that tells ya anything.

I like HHC, I know some people who says HHC is not enough violent, or is to damn Happy. The other thing here in Costa Rica we dont have a HHC movement, ther is no HHC partys at all, but the psy and house is getting strongest evry year in here, and the jungle is being very popular. But the question is: Why HHC dont have the same popularity of other generes?

THANKS FOR THE WELCOME.

Hrm, well, if you ask everyone around you:

1. Too repetitive.
2. It's for beanheads.

But in my experience anyway, I think dance music haters generally tolerate the HHC sound better than more popular sounds like "that repetitive techno shit" trance. And yeah, I've heard HHC first on internet radio too (I live in Florida).

Some good points.
In general, I have found it is because people think we will only listen to Happy hardcore.
But who said I couldn't listen to the Beatles, Led zep, Offspring and Hardcore?
I agree that for some Junglists its just to happy and not Urban/Gangsta enough and i do agree that some struggle with it because they want a Hard man image, lets face it that's why they all listen to garage now. I am a hardcore fanatic but in general I am a music fanatic full stop. People forget this because our passion comes over much stronger than theirs.
The association with cheesy sometimes seems to equate with popular or commercial thus trend setters quickly dump anything not seen as vogue.
If something isn't vogue then it naturally suffers scorn from the ignorant not wishing to look stupid in front of mates.
Dance music (a lot of it )evolves around cool if a group like the hardcore say we don't give a sh!t that is probably frightening for all the Label trendy nob heads in this world who will listen to anything providing it is the latest sound that's in
