It is all hardcore to me, but the problem comes when speaking to people from different countries....A UK person saying hardcore can mean quite a few styles of hardcore, however a dutch/belgium person that says hardcore music often means Gabber and not the happy stuff in the slightest.

don't know about there in the uk, but here nu-nrg is not freeform. the label 'new energy" happens to be the leading label in the freeform genre, but i have heard the term nu-nrg used mainly to describe the hard-house/trance hybrid.
happy hardcore and hardcore are not the same at all. maybe originally it was, but hardcore is a more generic term that can be used for all styles ranging from gabber to happy to old-skool to new trancey stuff (some may call uk hardcore). happy hardcore is a much more specific term, and therefore very different to hardcore.

think i agree with nearly everyone when i say, you have more harder, more faster and more vocal in loads of different tracks but it should all be labelled hardcore!!
HARDCORE FOREVER
if video games affected us as children, then we would all be running around in dark rooms, munching magical pills and dancing to repetitive music!
