Dunno if ne1 actually cares or not, but I thought I'd let ppl know what happened to me.
Basically what happened is that I went into the city (Ottawa) and got a copy of Windows XP Pro from a friend. So I went home and wiped out everything on my comp (After backing it to CD). Then installed this fancy ass XP (I used to have 2000). Well the first thing I did was go to chat and I got in easy enough after looking for three hours for a java reader, since XP doesn't have one. The next thing I did was let it auto update. Heh. Haven't been able to get on any sort of chat since.
Soooo...... If anyone actually wants to say something like hi sometime I can be found on MSN Messanger with the following addres:

So ne ways hopefully someone comes to say hi at some point

Install Java virtual machine from Microsoft... goto their site and search for it.

Microsoft doesn't make an XP compatible java VM. And I've been trying to get it to work through other methods without success. So basically what it comes to is that I can't chat unless its in an msn sponsored place.

Did Microsoft not include a Virtual Java Machine with SP1? Might be wrong on this one (and I won't find out till Network Support get off their ass and update my machine lol) but I'm pretty sure I heard something somewhere

If I knew what SP1 is I could respond intellegently, but I don't so all I can say is to hell with XP and its auto-updating. Its BS. Straight up. The only Java VM that will work with XP is called Sun, but as soon as you connect to the internet XP starts asking if you want to update. I thought that couldn't be bad, but was wrong. Can't chat now cause that would be some kind of XP security breach. Heh. Feckin' BS.

go to sun microsystems website, which is www.sun.com and download the java virtual machine I did it about 2 years ago......and have been fine eversince. I never let my Operating systems try and update themselves, though.....as I know this will lose a lot of my settings etc and be a suicide trip.

Just go to www.java.com and and download java 1.4
