Okay i know i'm going to get mixed emotions here...
I started listening to hardcore back in '96 ... some of the old 95 style still in it. Now i'm an old skool head as well ... which is what i'm getting at...
.. i think the 'new hardcore' is too commercial and sounds 'sold out' half of the tracks, ok, i admit, sound well produced, they just don't give me the same vibe as would old style happycore, gabber and the 88-93 shiznitt.
It's just trance track .. after trance track ... after trance track .. apart from it's on a 170 tip. I completely respect all you people if you like the new style, but i personally feel the older styles were better, you could expect a more diverse set than you can today. Like the thing with DNA .. there could be breaks, not just happycore.
Happycore can sound the same i know .. it seems quite a lot of the tracks now are more negative 'minor chords'.
Slate me if you want, or agree with me, it's entirely your descision ..

Hardcore progressed... you either love it or hate it... I understand what you are talking about but I find the new hardcore just the same as the old stuff in terms of the vibe I get when I am DJing it.
No one makes the old stuff anymore cause it does not even break even...

Yes i see where u going. But the vibe is stil the same as silver said and i find the older Happyhardcore gets a bit borring after a while (1weekish) compard to a the new stuff which i find more entertaining in many ways. O and more new happyhardcore is more trancecoreish than the older stuff so i think more of the hardtrance fans and trance fans will get into it becoz its just a next step. but everyone knows u should never force music on people , that is fair and you should NEVER AT NO MEANS do that in my opion.

hey flex mate,
I'm from the oldskool days of rave(whats been referred to as the golden years) of the english scene in 91-93, where it was just known as hardcore, before the scene split into genre's. I grew up in england when it all started i agree that them days were the best days, and will never be beaten, the reason the vibe lost a lot of vibe is coz the government couldnt ban them but pushed them into the clubs to keep control.....clubbing was then born, i think that killed the original rave scene..listening to grooverider, carl cox,swan-e,dougal,easygroove,slipmatt,phantasy every weekend was the best....then moved to oz with parents in 94,and the scene here was dead..well there was no scene compared to uk, was really hard to get used to....
But the likes of kevin nrg, scott brown, sharkey, breeze, styles, hixxy have now filled the shoes of the old skool legends, and its wiked to see that the hardcore scene is back as hard and big as it was then..showing that the infamous rave cry is true....
" HARDCORE WILL NEVER DIE!"
Its just changed like silver said......but you gotta admit mate it still ****ing kiks arse and as long as they keep churning out the toons that they are, I'll still be raving....Yeah its not about the fashions,or the dancing, or its the thing to be into....its all about the unity...the MUSIC that brings us together.
Yeah i get emotional, I miss the old days, but i'm ****ing loving these days too!
were all in the same state!!!

I'm a guy from the 1997 era. In the 1999 hardcore recession around here I started collecting older music if I found it, so I know a li'l about oldskool happy hardcore. I think that with the oldskool you had not as much cheesy trax as you have nowadays. Todays trax are (as you said) well produced and quality stuff, but in my opinion the scene should be divided in two again. HHC these days has got a lot of trance/dance influence and some of the have to much of it, hence the cheese. You should think of them as 2 groups. Those whom deserve the 'hard' in happy Hardcore, and those who you should refer to as happycore or candycore.
Personaly I prefer mostly the ol'skool, although some of todays trax get me jumpin' up 'n down aswel.

i agree with flexy totally
what surprises me the most of the vinyl today against back in the day is the production
its so sweet and smooth but can never compensate for samey stabs/riffs
the quality output is the same as ever, some amazing/some poor
but for the people who only buy whats new and think that its the best is only because of trends, thats all
the 91' to 94' scene can never be beaten, not for feeling ,atmosphere or melody
of course i'm really into getting the deleated stuff, that means the best of both worlds...pre
