Hey, first of all, lemme say im sorry if this has been discussed or if its in the wrong forum. Im kinda new on these board, and my search option never works.
What I am trying to figure out is what the best way to cut up a continuous mixed set is. Right now I am using Sound Forge 6, and cutting songs at say like 00:05:10:000 and the next track would start at 00:05:10:001 or something, but when I burn it there is a very miniscule pause, even thoguh im tell the disc to leave no pauses in between tracks (I'm using NEro Express.) Well thanks in advance. AIM me at fingerprints0202 if you can help, or post here

if its set to zero in nero then it must be how you split them in sound forge. the best way is to drop markers where you split the tracks, then drop one at the start and end, then change the markers to regions then extract them.
otherwise you might wanna try using a different cd burner program.easy cd creator does the job for me

I use a program called Pyro by Cakewalk. It's inexpensive and simple to use. Basically, it gives you a visual timeline of your MP3, WAV, or WMA file. You just place the track markers where you want and then burn it. There is no pause at all. Another nice feature is the ability to "zoom in" on the file. Great for when you are tracking your mixes and you want the marker in exactly the right spot.

I always make sure that the track splits occur on a "zero-crossing" point, as this way, if there is a tiny, minescule pause, it isn't emphasised by a click. See if that helps.

Don't use Sound Forge to cut up the mix, there is no need. Here are the steps:
1.) Open up Nero and load the full mix into the playlist.
2.) Right click it and choose properties.
3.) Choose the "Indexes, Limits, Split" tab. Your comp will now take a minute to construct a visual representation of the track.
4.) Once it's done zoom in and choose the time that you want the split at. There will be a yellow bar to represent where you are.
5.) When you have the time you want, hit the "Split" button.
6.) Repeat as necessary until you have as many splits as you want.
7.) Once you have your splits hit apply and it will ask you if you're sure you want to split the file, say yes. Now the mix will be shown as a bunch of different files where there was previously just one.
8.) Highlight all of the files shown and right click on one of them to choose properties.
9.) In the "Track Properties" tab you'll see the Pause value set to 2 seconds. Change 2 to 0.
10.) Hit ok and burn it, you're done!
Note: When you go to burn the cd it will say something about needing a 2-3 second pause for the first track so you'll need to hit ok. The pause comes before the first track starts not between the 1st and 2nd track, so don't worry, it's still gonna sound awesome.

If, like me, you can't stand Nero's wave editor, use Acoustica MP3 Audio Mixer. You can download it somewhere (just ask Google or Jeeves or something). It's shareware, though, so if you want unlimited use of the software then you have to download a crack register.
With Acoustica, you just right-click and select "Add Marker" in the general vicinity of where you want the split and then drag-n-drop to exactly where you want it (zooming in and out if necessary). If you want, you can test the placement of the split by right-clicking on the marker and selecting "Play from marker".
When you're done, save the whole lot as a WAV and it'll chop it all up into perfectly-matching WAV files for you. You *could* save it to MP3, but its encoder is crap and you'll end up with huge skips where the splits should be.
Of course, this uses up a bit of hard-drive space, and it doesn't have a built-in burning application, but for ease-of-use and seamless chopping I think it's worth the sacrifice.
Incidentally, if you have a hard-drive full of legally-obtained MP3's, you can use Acoustica to make your own mix (which is what it was designed for in the first place). However, the pitching and fading controls are a pain to use, it's not as easy as using Atomix, and it's nowhere near as much fun actually hunching over some decks and a mixer, so it's pretty useless in this regard.

Wow, you really must hate it to go through such a run-around process. Could I ask why? It's one of the easiest and straight forward pieces of software I use, can't find any faults with it myself? Do you have an ancient comp or something?

^^ well, yeah I do (P2-300) but I (actually, my brother) just got a zinger of a laptop and I still can't stand Nero's splitting thingy. It's just one of those things I can't put a finger on, something about the interface that makes me want to put a forehead-shaped hole in my monitor. I just really prefer Acoustica's more intuitive controls (for splitting, anyways). Mind you, I have no problems at all with the rest of the Nero package.
