In response to this topic, I did some research and we have added a few features to the site to help make posting more easier.
First... as you make have already noticed we have a new post reply and post topic button on the topic pages, we made it nice and big so newbies can find it and also enabled it's viewing when you are not logged in (you could you see a reply button if you were not logged in before).
We have also added new formatting features on all posts. You can now highlight with your mouse a selection of text and press the format button of choice (bold, strike out, underline, URL, Image... etc)... and that section of text will be that format (in bold, striked out, underlined.... etc).
We have also added these hotkeys you can press when the text is selected to do some quick tasks.
Control + Shift +
B = Bold
L = UnderLine
T = Italics
If you have NOT selected any text and you press a format button the format type will add to the end of the text piece as it used to before. These new features are great for editing text and reviewing your long posts. Works in IE, Netscape and Mozzila (aka Oli Gila).
We could not add a this functionality to the smiles due to the fact you don't highlight text to insert smiles, this technology requires something to be highlighted in order to work.
As usual please let us know if you are having problems in this post.
Update: We now have the direct insert of smilies into the post that to Underloop point me in the write direction.

And the shortcuts are pretty cool too Silver!!
The italics shortcut doesn't seem to be working for me though
much easier to use, and I imagine the Noobs will find replying much simpler now,I remember back when I was a noob hunting round for the reply button!

Arg, not sure I'm too keen on these overly sized reply buttons.....but aslong as everyone else is...I'll happily stick to them  .

this doesnt really have much to do with this topic ,but instead of opening another topic i will use this one :) ,how come on the profile bit ,you cant put msn in and theres not msn signs like the yahoo ones?

Well Kewl... I gotta admit I'd get confused when trying to put stuff in bold or underline summat  ...too much copying and pasting and stuff...

I think the color is kind of out of place, although thats not really a problem...

I like how the Post Reply :: New Topic icons are here. Except one problem. I hope you can add them to the top too. Because a lot of people including me, use it at the top mostly. Just look at the DI.fm forums and you can see the easyness. If you can add it, that would make things a WHOLE lot easier than to scroll all the way down to reply.

I dont think I will be adding them to the top... it's logical to have it at the bottom because you have to goto the last reply to read what is new anyway.
