Your probably the first one ive seen that also doesnt care much for the evolution sound :)

alek szahala is primarilly a producer i agree, and ok may not technically be a dj, i know this.. but even though he doesnt mix his tunes as we would, he could still do a mix for bonkers.. kind of like a live pa, but not live!!! anyway theres no point in arguing the fact cause it aint gonna happen.. same goes for pain on creation, they dont dj as such but their tunes r amazing... as for the evolution sound... boring... and the previous post seems to think that scott browns gabba at the end of the mix is crap.. just goes to show that every1 has different ideas of what sounds good... different strokes for different folks and all that... wd be a boring world if we all liked the same stuff eh!!! Bayley

Since I'm in the US, I didn't get B14 until today. So far I've listend to Scott's mix and I was really hoping I'd never see the day where hardcore got to the point where mediocre tracks would be produced just so albums could advertise them. I'm referring to, of course, Scott Brown's "remixes" (and I use the term VERY loosely) of Rock You Softly and Neckbreaker. I've listened to them twice already and I'm still trying to see what the point was. Neckbreaker is practically identical from beginning to end to the original. Rock You Softly changes one note in each bar of the melody but otherwise is identical to the original (horrible breakdown & vocals included). My only conclusion is that these tracks were simply produced to help promote Bonkers 14. OMGZ 2 OLD SKOOL TRAX BY SCOTT R ON IT!!!!!!!!!!!! OMGZ I GOTTA BUY IT!!!!!!!!

I think the source material is starting to wear on the Bonkers series badly. When you have 13 SB tracks every 6 months, it gets old. If Scott wants to mix only his own material, that's what Hardwired and the like are for, not Bonkers. Hixxy's mix is the same... Bonkers is supposed to be cutting edge hardcore. This is not "Hardcore's greatest hits", which I guess is what Hixxy was going for. This is supposed to be the greatest current hardcore tracks. Why not bring in V.A.G.A.B.O.N.D. or some other up and coming hardcore artist to do mix #1... ya know, someone that hasn't remixed their own tracks 40 times.

Sharkey's mix is consistently one of the best if not the best in all of the Bonkers' series. His genre has a much smaller audience, but when you aren't listening to 14 consecutive tracks by the same artist, the mix is a lot more diverse and enjoyable. Maybe I'll change my opinion after listening to Dougal's mix, but as of right now there's two Bonkers' flagships who are becoming the series' biggest detriment.

i know, i said he was a top remixer/dj but i was dissapointed with his 12 and 13 mixes, 14 is ok though, not listened to it properly yet. his 10 mix is the best i reckon.

Probably the best Bonkers mix period. Dunno wtf happened to him after that.

I'm only on my 2nd full listen.

I know what you mean about Scott's mix... or remixes. You can't argue with what he does for the scene tho!

Loving Dougal's mix most of all. Reminds me of many a quality recent night!

Sharkey's mix is instantly listenable to too.

Disappointed with Hixxy's mix. Has he just ben too busy with promoting the scene? He put unbelievable effort into the hardcore weekender.

In short: rispec all round! Well worth the "donation" imo...

I've goto say that Dougals is the best. Scott Brown why did u not put "Fly With You" on your Cd and let Hixxy steal it because that has to be the best track on the whole set. Mind you "Be Happy" is a quality remix, but overall Dougal produced the best mix.

Sounds like the same damn song as the original to me, just a little added background melody to the buildups. Yawn.

As Bayley said, you've hit the nail on the head. I do like the evolution sound, it's just every single track sounds the bloody same!

I think Hixxy and Dougal's mixes were poor. With exception of dark like vader and let me hear ya on Hixxy's disc. Dougal's mix had a few good tracks too (testing 1.2, we need more core, mars atx) but the rest were either remixes or lame (that goes for Hixxy's disc too). When I heard count the hours on Dougals mix I almost cried in embaressment. I'm sorry if I offend anyone that likes it or the artist, but no one can say that it is a track worthy of being on bonkers, especially when there is so much more talent out there.
I'm not trying to get at Scott Brown, Dougal or Hixxy or anyone because I know how much work they put in but I'm sure that they could have done alot better. It just doesnt feel up to usual standards. I felt like this with bonkers 13 aswell. It just seems like it is gettin released every 6 months or so for the sake of it. I would prefer if they postponed it if there wasn't enough top quality material to go on the album.

On a happier note, Sharkey's mix was AWESOME.

^^^^ Thing is there is easily enough decent new material for a bonkers every 6 months they just dont put it on there! The amount of "decent, cutting edge" hardcore vinyls I buy over a 6 month period is alot higher than the amount used on bonkers, its as someone has already said "shameless self promotion".

I for one would like to see more of the minor hardcore labels featured on bonkers or on a different cd and i'd buy that instead ;p

Ps. Sharkey is excused from this rant.
