"i would make music for the love of it"
yeah yeah, great thats what everyone says, and thats what everyone does, however only fools spend there own money on releasing records etc just to allow people to go stealing what they have spent money on.
it costs a dj 1000 quid + if they are to release a tune they did themselves, they wont make that back usually unless they can make sure everyone buys that vinyl... now cdj's are arround mp3's can damage the scene to an extent of bankrupsy.
i go on ******** everyday to download sound effects for my tunes, now, i look on there and see "deejaybee and overflow - sunrise - bonkers x.mp3" and i think... some tosser has sat and downloaded that tune and 9 times outa 10 that person will not go out and buy that cd after.
some people sho shall remain nameless have even been caught playing out the version of my tune that was on bonkers, literally mixing in the already mixed version which is sad... now why does everyone wonder why scott brown makes the tunes really short on bonkers?? so people dont rip em and play em, also.... thats why hixxy puts "D J HIXXY H T I D" on the first tune on bonkers, so people dont play that.... again he fades it out on the end tune, its a big problem, when you go to raves the dj's are playing out the tunes they have stolen from the cd's.
its a shame that even though we dont make money from hardcore anyways, cause there simply isnt enough money in it to do so... people still have to moan about why we dont give it away for free.... simple, cause you want it on vinyl, so we pay for it and release it and then everyopne rips it off... its not about making money... its about not making a loss.
end of.
come on guys, are you all so short sighted that you cant see that hardcore artists in any shape or form are not all making money from there releases and ripping you guys off... there taking time and effort making these tunes, spending years perfecting them, i think they deserve some reward now.
like i said....
"its not about making money, its about not making a loss so you can do it again"
so next time you "download" a tune on kazaa... remember, hardcore is not big enough and marketable enough to make a profit or a living with downloads happening... its simply not big enough.

I think some hardcore artists do it mainly for the love of it, and if they make a penny here or there, then it's a bonus.

Yay lets hate 9 out of 10 hardcore fans because they... eh like hardcore?
How about making it easy to get instead? Getting the tunes on itunes, make your own mp3 store, or do like qoush allow people to make their own cd with their choice of tracks.
Really, I dont see how there can be any hardcore cdj's, no tracks are released on cd! Only mixed albums!
I do understand you, and I dont think it's right to download mp3s illegal either, but hardcore isn't like pop, you cant go to your local store and buy Scott Browns newest track on a maxi cd single with 4 remixes. It will never be like that, thats why the hardcore scene is in need of a good easily handled medium.
I think the hardcore scene is missing out alot of sales because the only medium is vinyl. Most people doesn't want to dj, they just want to listen to tunes from their mp3 player, and maybe some doesn't want em mixed.
This is my opinions!

Thats... eh a little provocative ;)
I'm not a dj, yet i havent got much problems getting new tunes on cd, ppl that download think that because last time they checked their local supermarket and didnt find all the hardcore tunes on cd, they dont exist?
I have at least 2000 hardcore tunes on CD, you know finding them is just a matter of will, witch downloaders dont have...
Mixed CD's? Well they are just like "radio edits", the tunes just dont have the mixing intros/outros, witch only DJ's need...

i agree with you totally deejaybee, i only ever download people's mixes which are posted on sites as they are legal, or if i need to download a tune to sample it, and that's not very often at all. Most people who post about mp3s being fine 1) don't own a record label or have a tune out, 2) havn't been in the hardcore scene very long and 3) download them themsevles. if they understood the full damage that is done to the hardcore scene via mp3s then i think they would have a very different view on this topic.
If you were to make a site where people could pay to download mp3s, its obvious that once one person had bought it, it would make it very easy for them to upload it to an mp3 site/p2p app so everybody could own it. Hence, a perfect copy of the original tune with only one copy being sold.
In response to Menion's post "Really, I dont see how there can be any hardcore cdj's, no tracks are released on cd! Only mixed albums! "
People download vinyl rips from the internet and play them out at Raves. No-one can tell the difference, they're just burned off someones computer. When i took a holiday to wales there was like this mini-rave thing at the campsite i was staying at and the guy's son liked to dj. To my amazment he played out shooting star, which had been directly ripped off one of the happy 2b hardcore albums! The tune started to mix into the next track on the happy 2b hardcore cd before he put on children of the night...*shudder* I was pissed off at this, but in a way quite glad that hardcore was getting recognition...But mp3 downloading has done and will continue to do more damage to the hardcore scene than it will heal. in short, MP3+Hardcore=Bad

Ok, maybe my last post was a little harsh but the message I'm trying to give is that, on this forum most people is negative to mp3s in general. While it is bad that you can download mp3s illegal there's still another side.
I hear from alot of friends and on the net that there's a demand for legal mp3 downloads. I have friends that don't even have/use a cd player, they have their ipod. They have to rip their new cd's to mp3, cd's that cant be ripped that easy nowdays anyway.
And for the djs that play downloaded music in clubs, yeah that's sad but they aint that many. And for everyone else that is downloading mp3s just to listen to, that's not an mp3 problem, it's the same problem that occured when recordable tapes came out, and have been there for years.
And sure, if somebody pays for an mp3 he can share it if he wants, but I think if people are offered a nice deal to an resonable price they'll go for the legal download instead.
Not trying to piss anyone off here, just want to show views from another side.
oh, and I forgot:

of course they do, if you're a cdj and have nice expensive cd decks, how are you supposed to get some hardcore music to play? only solution is to get an good vinylplayer and an expensive HQ pickup and rip them to cd.

That would be good if somebody can actually come up with something that would fix this problem!!!! Theres been lots of attempts so far, but if somebody has the brains to come up with a way to stop people copying, then theres always somebody who can come up with some way to stop people stopping people copying... unfortunately thats just life
